Devotion for Thursday after Advent 3

“Behold, I am going to send My messenger, and he will clear the way before Me. And the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple; and the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight, behold, He is coming,” says the Lord of hosts.

God made a promise; He fulfilled His promise although it took hundreds of years. His timing is not our timing, and what seems like a long time to us is miniscule to an almighty and eternal Lord. God will keep Him promises relating to the return of Jesus, the Day of Judgment, and the end of time. We don’t know the time, so we need to be ready all the time.

We trust You, Lord, and know that You always fulfill Your promises. Our finite minds have a hard time understanding Your infinite plan, but we know it is good. We look forward to spending forever with You in the new earth. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
