Devotion for Saturday after Lent 1

Like a shepherd He will tend His flock,
In His arm He will gather the lambs
And carry them in His bosom;
He will gently lead the nursing ewes.

~ Isaiah 40:11

Jesus not only leads His sheep, directing them with His rod and His staff, but He picks us up and carries us when we don’t have the strength to walk on our own. He protects us, soothes our injuries, and carries us to our destination. We may not know our destination, but the Lord knows exactly where we need to be, and Jesus will gently carry us there.

Father God, often I don’t know where I should be going or I deliberately go off in the wrong direction because that’s where I think I should be. Thank You that Jesus picks me up and carries me, ensuring I get to the right place. I don’t have to rely on my own ability to walk or even my own ability to know where I’m going. Open the eyes and ears of my heart to see and hear Your guidance. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
