Devotion for Friday after Lent 1

Then the eyes of the blind will be opened
And the ears of the deaf will be unstopped.
Then the lame will leap like a deer,
And the tongue of the mute will shout for joy.
For waters will break forth in the wilderness
And streams in the Arabah.
~ Isaiah 35:5-6

Isaiah prophesied about the coming of the Messiah. When Jesus walked the earth, He fulfilled these prophecies: He opened the eyes of the blind, unstopped the ears of the deaf, caused the lame to leap for joy, and unloosed the tongues of the mute. Only the Son of God has power to supernaturally overcome every obstacle. Only the Son of God loves His children enough to lift their burdens, ease their pain, eliminate their suffering.

Thank You, Lord, that Jesus is powerful enough to cure illnesses and heal hurts and that He loves enough to do so. We do not deserve Your grace, but we thank You for it. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
