Devotion for Tuesday after Lent 1

And let all kings bow down before him,
All nations serve him.
For he will deliver the needy when he cries for help,
The afflicted also, and him who has no helper.
He will have compassion on the poor and needy,
And the lives of the needy he will save.

~ Psalm 72:11-13

One day every knee will bow to Christ—all kings and rulers, all nations and peoples. Even now, though, God watches out for the needy and those who have no helper. He will answer anyone who cries out to Him. Whatever they are going through, He will be with them. He will give them the strength and endurance to get through whatever they are facing. Even if we don’t consider ourselves poor and needy, in God’s view, we are poor and needy. We have nothing without Him; we cannot do anything on our own. God wants us to cry out to Him, to lean on Him, to trust Him to get us through whatever trials we face.

Thank You, Lord, that I can cry out to You, and You will come to my rescue. I need You; I can’t do anything without You. But You are close by, and You answer when I call. Be with me in my trials and give me what I need to get through them. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
