Isaiah 7:10-14 (NASB)
10 Then the Lord spoke again to Ahaz, saying, 11 “Ask a sign for yourself from the Lord your God; make it deep as Sheol or high as heaven.” 12 But Ahaz said, “I will not ask, nor will I test the Lord!” 13 Then he said, “Listen now, O house of David! Is it too slight a thing for you to try the patience of men, that you will try the patience of my God as well? 14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.
Ahaz apparently didn’t want to ask God for a sign, even after God told him to ask for one. The Lord provided a sign anyway: a virgin shall bear a son and call His name Immanuel. That son was Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, whose birth we celebrate at Christmas. That sign was fulfilled, and all the other signs and promises and prophecies in the Bible will be fulfilled as well. Jesus will come again with glory to usher in His Kingdom that will live forever. Thank You, Lord, that Your promises are always fulfilled in Your perfect time. We look forward to Jesus return, just as You promised. In His holy name. Amen.
