Devotion for the First Sunday after Christmas

Then say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, “Behold, a man whose name is Branch, for He will branch out from where He is; and He will build the temple of the Lord. Yes, it is He who will build the temple of the Lord, and He who will bear the honor and sit and rule on His throne. Thus, He will be a priest on His throne, and the counsel of peace will be between the two offices.”’ ~ Zechariah 6:12-13

When He comes again, Jesus will build the temple of the Lord—the new Jerusalem. He will rule in honor and power, a mighty ruler, while remaining our High Priest. Only a member of the Godhead could do that.

Praise Jesus and thank You, Father God, for Your perfect plan. Although sometimes I can’t understand how the suffering we go through on earth fits into Your plan, I look forward to the day when Jesus will rule in glory in the New Jerusalem. Maranatha, Lord Jesus! Amen.
