What a sweet thing for Jack to say! But, you know, that wife of his isn’t half bad herself–though I’m sure that after 40+ years, he’s well aware of that!
Jeanne
I can’t believe it! 75 and 40 years!
God bless you both!
Wow! Forty years! Congrats! Congrats! It is nice to be remembered, and Happy Birthday to you! Both are very special, a 75th birthday and spending 40 years together. May you have many more to come!
Salihu,
Thank you for your congratulations. We are very blessed.
I posted photos of Jack’s 76th birthday recently.
Although I replied to every comment when it was made, nested comments (which included my responses) disappeared when I moved my blog.
Bless him! What’s his secret? I’d put him in his 60′s! Lucky you hun!
Thank, Amy. I always tell him I keep him young.
I know his birthday was a long time ago but I’ll add my 2 cents anyway. For the past year Ive been working in a retirement village in a small town in New Zealand and must say that Jack is one of the most youthful looking 75 years olds Ive seen for a long time! Incredible! Whats his secret?!

Ana,
Good luck and good genes … and being married to me.
Its amazing what a long happy marriage can do. My parents just reached their 50th anniversary – both are in their 80′s and looking (and feeling) better than ever. Congrats on reaching 40 years together!

Thank you, Anna. I’m glad your parents are happy and doing well.
Wow! I would have given Jack 50-something from that picture. You must be a great wife, because he sure is looking like a satisfied, secure and happy man.
Fiona,
And nearly two years later, he looks pretty much the same.
Happy 77th, Jack!
Thanks, Deb. He had a lovely 77th birthday, too.
Happy birthday! I wish I knew the secret
Bob,
Birthday wishes are appreciated even if they’re 2 1/2 years late.
At 77, Jack still looks much the same. The secret: being married to me for 43+ years.
75!? Are you kidding me. I’ll be delighted if I look that fresh when I’m 75. C’mon Jack share your secrets! haha!
Chris,
I’ll tell you Jack’s secret of staying young: being married to me for 40+ years.
jack is amazing for 75! Good on him, hope he had a fab day.

lyn,
He had a great day on his 75th … and his 76th … and his 77th! His 78th is coming up in a couple of months.
Congrats! It is nice to be remembered, and Happy Birthday to you! Both are very special. My parents just reached their 30th anniversary
Bill,
Thank you for the good wishes for Jack. It’s almost time to wish him happy birthday again. He will turn 78 on January 3, 2011.
He looks great at 75! Happy birthday Jack! I hope you two share many wonderful and happy years together.
Rachel,
We enjoyed three more years together since this post was written and plan on many more.
Thanks, Two Write Hands. I tell him all the time being married to me keeps him young.
Thank you, Joanna! We’re very blessed.
My commenters are the best, Mr. Lillie!
Thank you! Jack does take some excellent nutritional supplements – if you want to know specifics, we’ll be glad to share. He’s also blessed with good genes … and I always say being married to me is the best anti-aging secret.
Thanks, Mike! We’re hoping to reach our golden anniversary.
Thanks, Lisa. I’m sure Jack will be back again to see your lovely comment.
Thanks, Mig. We will celebrate tomorrow night with a family dinner at a favorite steak restaurant. Jack’s brother and his wife are here from China. His sister-in-law has a birthday the same day, and she’s never had a birthday cake – apparently they don’t celebrate birthdays in China the way we do in the US – so we’re looking forward to taking her a birthday cake.
Not only is Jack handsome, but he’s also funny and smart. Humor gets us out of arguments – it’s hard to argue when you’re laughing.
Thank you, Michele!
We recognize how blessed we are.
We know each pretty well after 40+ years, Jeanne, and he is always my biggest supporter.
Pretty amazing, Fr. Jerry! We’re very blessed.
We enjoyed the photo Christmas card. It’s amazing that your children aren’t little kids any more.
