The Premio Dardos Award
February 17, 2009 by Lillie
Bluestocking, of The Bluestocking Guide, has honored me with the Premio Dardos Award.
Premio Dardos means “prize darts” in Italian. It is given for recognition of cultural, ethical, literary, and personal values transmitted in the form of creative and original writing.
The rules are as follows.
First, accept the award by posting it on your blog along with the name of the person that has granted the award and link to her blog.
Second pass the award to another 15 blogs that are worthy of this acknowledgment, remembering to contact each of them to let them know they have been selected for this award.
I’m passing the award on to blogs that I feel deserve it. Some have already received the award, but it’s been a couple of weeks since Bluestocking gave me the award, and I’ve lost track. If this is a duplicate award, that shows how much the blog deserves to be recognized. Some of the bloggers I’m honoring do not participate in memes and similar activities. If you aren’t comfortable acknowledging or passing it on, just ignore the award, but know that I appreciate your blog and want to recognize it.
The list is in alphabetical order by the blogger’s first name.
- Alina Popsecu, Words of a Broken Mirror
- Brad Shorr, Word Sell
- Catherine Lawson, CathLawson.com
- Deb Boyken, Punctuality Rules
- Helen Ginger, Straight from Hel
- Jeanne Dininni, Writer’s Notes
- Joanna Young, Confident Writing
- John Hewitt, Poewar
- Karen Swim, Words for Hire
- Lori Widmer, Words on the Page
- Matthew Keegan, Word Journey
- Mihaela (Mig) Lica, eWritings Online Public Relations
- Misti Sandefur, Life of a Writer
- Renee Brumbaugh, Morning Coffee with Renae
- Robert Hruzek, Middle Zone Musings
- Tammy Hensel, Dedicated Writer
Thanks for your contributions to the Internet and to my blog reading pleasure.

Oh, Thank you so much, Lillie! I am so honored that you’d think of me. Of course, I am in agreement with Bluestocking. You deserve the award!
Blessings to you, my friend!

Renae´s last blog post..Guilty
Renae,
I got sidetracked between writing the post and notifying the people I recognized. So you beat me to the punch.
Oh! LOL! When I popped over and saw my name, I just assumed you wanted me to find it here.
Nothing like internet in real time, is there?
You are such a blessing, Lillie. Such a joy to everyone who knows you. Thank you for being such a bright spot on the web!

Renae´s last blog post..Guilty
I’m glad you popped over and found it, Renae. It just surprised me.
Thank you for the lovely things you said about me. I feel the same way about you.
I don’t yet deserve it, my blog is fairly bare. When the face of Melbourne has something to write about on my upcoming trip, hopefully I will make a mention in your list.
All the best.

Lillie, congratulations on the honor! Lillie, as I read the description of the award, I could not help but think how well the honor fits you – not only this blog but the way you conduct yourself on and off the blog. If I had known about this award, I would have given it to you myself. I am humbled that you have graciously shared it with me. Thank you so much Lillie for the recognition and your friendship!
Karen Swim´s last blog post..How to Sing Like a Canary without Being a Blowhard
Karen,
Thank you for your kind words. You certainly deserve the award—when I read it, I thought of you!
Lillie, I’m honored you’d rank me up there with the others on this list. And I’m with Renae, Karen and Jean; you definitely deserve it!
A big ol’ tip o’ the hat to ya!
You deserve to be on the list, Robert. I’m pleased to honor you.
Lillie,
Congratulations on receiving the Premio Dardos Award! And thanks so much for passing this honor along to me, as well. I consider myself privileged to receive it–and even more so to join the ranks of the other fine bloggers who have also been recognized!
Thanks again!
Jeanne
You’re welcome, Jeanne. The award is well-deserved.
It is an honor to among such a prestigious group.
Thanks so much Lillie. I am very honored!
One question, you say in your rules to give the link to “her” blog. (Actually my husband was the one to point this out to me when I read it to him.) Can’t guys give and receive this award too? LOL I will give careful consideration to my awardees and post my list by the end of the week if not tomorrow.

Tammy,
I just copied and pasted the rules from Bluestocking’s post. But if you look at my list, you will notice that I gave the award to several men. I just ignored the use of a feminine pronoun.

Thank you so much, Lillie! I’m honored to be in such good company … and you KNOW you’d be on my list, too!

That was fast, Deb! It took me a couple of weeks to respond.
Lillie,
Congratulations and thanks for sharing the award with me! I know you’ve been a loyal reader at Life of a Writer for quite a few years, which is how I discovered your blog. I’ll admit that my work has keep me from blogging on a regular basis, but I do my very best not to neglect Life of a Writer. In fact, I have a ton of ideas on file for upcoming posts, and all of those ideas came from my busy life as a writer.
With that said, I’m honored that you still believe my blog is worthy of this award, and I’m so thankful that you continue to read it even though I don’t post as often as I used to.
Keep up the good writing here at A Writer’s Words, An Editor’s Eye!
Thanks again and may God bless,

Misti,
I understand being busy and not posting as often as you would like. I have that problem from time to time as well. Subscribing to your RSS feed makes it easy to keep up with when you update your blog.
Thank you for the recognition, Lillie. And, for the translation — prize darts — always on target! What a nice list of writers too; reminders to me to stop by their sites to check out what they’re up to.
Matt Keegan´s last blog post..Your Special Gift — Proverbs 18:16
Matt,
I enjoy participating in things like this from time to time to let my favorite bloggers know how much I appreciate them. And, as you say, it’s always a good reminder to read some excellent blogs and sometimes an introduction to new ones.
Hi Lillie, Thank you so much! Being nominated by you is in itself a great honor for me, truly. And looking over your nominees, I see that I am in very good company.
Brad Shorr´s last blog post..Silly Sales Wordplay – Invest versus Spend
Brad,
You deserve to be in such great company.
Thank you Lillie, this award honors me as much as the honest scrap award did. I still didn’t find the time to respond to that meme (I have the post half written though) – too much work keeps me somehow away from what really matters – in this case responding to a friend. I apologize and I will try to do better in the future
Also, congratulations to all the other nominees.

Mig,
If you have a chance to respond, fine. If not, that’s fine, too. My purpose is to recognize the excellence of your blog, and I’m not offended if you don’t pass it on. I understand being busy—it took me awhile to respond to this.
Lillie, congratulations on receiving the award! I am honored to be among the ones you’ve passed it on to and I’ll gladly share another 15 valuable blogs with you and my readers.
Alina,
I’m pleased to include you in the outstanding blogs I recognized.
Lillie, thank you, that was a lovely surprise to come home to. Like Karen Swim I greatly value the way you conduct yourself as well as the things that you write – a great example to others.
Thank you!
Joanna Young´s last blog post..Audacious Faith in the Future
Joanna,
Thank you for the lovely compliment. I’m delighted to include you among the outstanding blogs I honored.
Congratulations Lillie!
I look forward to reading some of the other blogs on the list too.

Lori,
You’re welcome. You deserve the recognition.
Hi Lillie – Thank you very much. I feel honoured that you’ve chosen me along with so many great writers.
By the way, your new posts haven’t been showing up in my reader for ages – I don’t know what has gone wrong. I’ve tried resubscribing via your RSS button and that doesn’t seem to be working properly either.
Cath,
You certainly deserve the honor.
Hmmm… I’ll try to figure out what’s going on with the RSS feed. I subscribe myself to hopefully stay on top of any problems, but it’s been working fine for me.
Periodically, feeds quit working for me even though I’m subscribed. When I notice I haven’t seen a post in a while, I click over the site. If I find it’s been updated, I unsubscribe to the feed and re-subscribe. That usually does the trick. I know you tried to re-subscribe, but did you delete the old subscription first? If not, you might try that.
In the meantime, I’ll be trying to track down the problem on my end. Thanks for letting me know.
Congratulation for the award, Lillie and I think you’re well deserved it!

Lillie, I was having the same problem with your feeds but just unsubscribed and re-subscribed and the posts showed up. Thanks! I hate missing your posts! Feed readers do sometimes go wonky and feedburner was particularly fitful in recent months.
Karen,
Thanks for letting me know. Technology sometimes fails—unlike us perfect humans.

Chris,
This award was for blogging, not for writing, and it was given by another blogger, not by a formal awards organization. But I am very pleased that another blogger recognized my efforts.
Congrats on the award. I am thinking about starting a blog on my site and researching blogs that have received awards to see what makes them special. I especially like how you sent the award “love” out to other blogs.
Jeff,
Good luck with starting your blog.
Lillie is a potential person for this award. Recently she touched the 10k comments landmark and has enormous visitor base constantly growing. So I wont be surprised if she receives this award next time. I will be glad for her.
Best Regards,
Mack

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Mack. I actually did receive the award and passed it on to others.
Lillie,
Belated wishes on securing an award which seems to be prestigious for all blog owners and the web community. I hope my blog soon develops and reach a credible state where you can recommend me for the next years awards. I admire your quality postings and your writing style. Your Stroke Of Luck book is so inviting and I cant wait to read the same. How do you choose the type of writings? Is it by intuition or coincidence???
Lillie, belated wishes and congratulations on winning the Premio Dardos Awards and cheers to other winners as well. Such recognition and awards always entices the creative urge and the pressure to contribute more. I am sure you will win it next year too. Thanks!
Thank you, Alan. The award is something that bloggers award to other bloggers when the first blogger receives it; it’s not an annual award. But I appreciate your vote of confidence.
I love that the award means dart in Italian. A sharp blog is indeed like a dart. It makes a point and it sticks if done well. Yours are mostly bulls eyes.
Thank you, Pat.
The Premio Dardos Award is new to me, but it is a nice manner to reward people contributing for a better web with better contents. Good luck with your nomination.
Daniel,
The person who receives the award from another blogger passes it on to bloggers they respect. Once a blogger is named by another blogger, they have received the award.
Congratulations Lillie on winning this award and passing onto others so generously. I am sure you will be winning more ideas like this in the future for your selfless attitude and excellent articles creating social awareness. We all are with you.
Michael,
Thank you for the kind words.
Lillie,
There is no doubt that you deserve this and many more such awards for the excellent info you share on your blog. For me, I would have to see if I can also get the award for one of my blogs or not… well, I will give it a try
Agnideb,
Thank you for the compliment and good luck in receiving awards on your blogs.
Congrats on the award!
Thanks, Don.
No problem!
Don,
I’m assuming you are the same Don who left the original comment though you left a different URL. That’s why your comment went into moderation. Everything must match for WordPress to recognize you as the same person who commented before. If you leave a different name, URL, or e-mail address or sign in from a different IP address, you will be treated as a new commenter.
Congrats for the award, well deserved.
Thanks, Emily!
Congratulation for the award, Lillie and I think you’re well deserved it!

I just recently discovered your blog and have started reading your Self Publishing Primer. I have always wanted to write a book but haven’t had the discipline to get it done. Thank you for this great resource and congratulations on the award.
jen,
Thanks. I hope you find the primer and other material on the blog helpful to you in your efforts to write a book.
Hmm, makes me think: is there any award for bloggers you have not received yet?
Just kidding! Congrats, btw. I would say you deserve every award you get!
Thank you, Sumanta.
Hi. I just discovered your blog and thoroughly enjoy it. Every post I’ve read so far has been well written. So a belated congrats on the Premio Dardos Award. And it’s cool that you got to pass the award on to other blogs. I’ve started to explore the blogs you passed it on to and I’m discovering some good reading.
Thank you so much!
rodney,
I almost marked your comment spam as the first two sentences sound like the boilerplate of spam comments I get regularly.
But then you made a comment relevant to the specific post so I decided it was legitimate.
I’m glad you’re enjoying my blog as well as the ones I passed the award to.
I’m glad you didn’t do that. I’ve actually spent some good time on your site. Good stuff.
rodney,
I’m glad I read far enough to realize you were being sincere in your kind words, which I appreciate. Guess I’m getting jaded—I get dozens of spam comments a day saying the same things that I can’t tell the difference between a sincere compliment and boilerplate spam.
I completely understand.
rodney,
It’s really sad, though, that the spammers have made us suspicious of everyone.
Lillie, congrats on the prize darts award
I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English writing and recently have been looking into freelance writing. Your blog has a lot of helpful tips!
Nat,
Good luck with your freelancing career!
wow, congratulation for you.
now you have a blogger awards
Thanks for the congrats, jojo.
Well deserved, congrat for this award Lillie.
When will be the next one ?
Thanks, Kevin. Since this was 2 1/2 years ago, I’m not holding my breath for another award.
