National Day of Prayer

May 3rd is the National Day of Prayer in the US. You can find an event in your area on the Web site.

The history of the National Day of Prayer goes back to the beginning of our country. The Continental Congress proclaimed the first Day of Prayer in 1775, “imploring the assistance of Heaven and its blessing on our deliberations,” and the National Day of Prayer was established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1952.

The official Web site of the National Day of Prayer offers a prayer guide that covers what and who to pray for and why to pray.

The Presidential Prayer Team offers a Guide to National Day of Prayer. You can also sign up to participate in an online prayer rally.

The Baghdad Prayer Patrol offers a prayer of protection for our troops.

If you live in the US and are a believer in prayer, I hope you will join me in praying on the National Day of Prayer.

Updated May 3: In response to a comment, I wanted to note that the Global Day of Prayer is scheduled for 27 May 2007.
