My Hero

I’ve always charged full speed ahead in anything I did. Impatient to get on with my life, I graduated from Southwestern University at Georgetown, Texas after three years,  with a Bachelor of Arts Magna Cum Laude Degree in Sociology. That same summer, I married my hero, Jack Ammann, and more than 41 years later, I love him more each day.

We met at Kelly Air Force Base where I had a summer job in the department where Jack worked as an industrial engineer. At the end of the summer, after dating for two months, I was telling him my plans for the future. He patiently listened as I detailed my exciting future.

Then he asked, “When are you going to marry me?”

I answered, “When are you going to ask me?”

He asked; I accepted; and we married at the end of the school year. I’ve made many good decisions in my life, but saying “yes” to that unorthodox proposal was the best.

Although our lives, as it is with most people, haven’t always been the smoothest, our love has always been constant. We know God brought us together, and our Christian faith has always been rock solid to sustain us “for better, for worse; for richer, for poorer; in sickness, and in health until death do us part.” We believe these are some of the most important tenets in life.

Jack is intelligent, caring, accomplished and strong, but most of all, fun. His sense of humor lightens the dark times and brings even more joy in the good times.

Jack continued working as an industrial engineer while I became an entrepreneur. After his retirement, he helped me with my interior plant business. When I suffered a massive stroke, he took care of our business, our home, and me. After I began writing, we jumped at the chance to sell the plant business.

Jack is just as supportive as he’s always been and as excited as I am about my freelance writing and my venture with Your Information Center!

A few years ago, he decided to fulfill a childhood fantasy of driving a bus and went to work as a school bus driver. He loved what he did, and the kids loved him even though he was a strict disciplinarian. He also went through extensive training and served for a number of years as a deputy constable. He finally retired from his bus driving career and gave up his active service in law enforcement, but he still maintains his credentials and certification as a Master Peace Officer in the state of Texas.

Jack has lots of hobbies to keep him busy, and he shares some of his favorite things at JackAmmann.com. We are both so thankful for our manifold blessings.
