Some really nice shots there Lillie, it looks like a very interesting place to live
Christopher,
I’m a typical Texan and love my state.
It’s always good to love the place you live
Christopher,
I believe everyone should live where they live, what they do, and who they share their lives with.
It’s such a beautiful place, Lillie.
Thank you, Emily. I agree.
I didn,t live there but after seeing your beautiful shots taken by you, i love to live there.
Meenakshi,
I can’t take credit for the beautiful shots. I just downloaded the video from YouTube. But I agree they should make anyone to want here.
Your post gave much thinking to me. Everybody should love the place they live.
So true, Dorothy.
Wow I love the fields of flower . I wish there were in my place.
Crystal,
Of course, the flowers last only a short time, but the times they are in bloom, they are glorious.
It is fantastic place of the world to live and enjoy life.
I certainly agree with you, Nawaz.
Texas is indeed a wonderful place
Spent a summer in Houston and i loved it! Now wherever I am, I try to find BBQ, but it’s just not the same!
Sam,
I don’t think you can get Texas barbecue anywhere else, and you can’t get Tex-Mex food anywhere else, either.
I live in a little town called Austin, Texas. Yes, I bleed burnt orange, and I got goose-bumps listening to the video on this post! I have got to get that video! You are correct when you said people not from Texas can see what they are missing from the video. Thank you so very much for the goose=bumps!
Ronald,
I live just down the road from you in San Antonio. I went to college a little north of you at Southwestern University in Georgetown. My husband is an Aggie and bleeds maroon!
WOW!! We are practically neighbors! I have a cousin that lives in Georgetown. How does your husband feel about the Aggies playing in the Southeastern Conference? Will miss the Texas vs Texas A & M games. So much tradition lost. Again, I really appreciate your site. Thank you!
Ronald,
Jack is very unhappy about the loss of tradition with the conference change. It just won’t be the same without the annual rivalry game. Jack’s parents both went to Texas, and his brother-in-law played football for TCU, so there was always a lot of good-natured rivalry in the family over football. His parents are no longer living, and now
A&M is in a new conference, so football season isn’t nearly as much fun.
Lillie,
I agree. Thankfully, TCU is now competing in the Big 12 so Jack and his brother-in-law can enjoy some rivalry. It makes watching, listening, or going to the games so much more enjoyable. Who knows, maybe we can persuade Jack to be a Longhorn fan. Oops, I didn’t suggest that did I????? My son is an OU fan, so please pray for him.
Ronald,
I’m afraid you won’t have much luck trying to turn Jack into a Longhorn fan. He’s just a few months short of 80 years old, so he’s been an Aggie a very long time and is set in his ways. He’s more likely to convert you.
Hello Lillie,
lol!! Will be tough as I really do not care for the SEC. I do hope the Aggies do well competing against Alabama, LSU and the others, but I will always be true to our now BIG 12 teams. My sister, who also lives here in Austin will be 81 soon. Just try to convert her away from her precious Longhorns! Her two favorite teams are Texas and whoever is playing Oklahoma. Fall is almost here and that means football season is getting close. Should be a lot of fun.
Ronald,
I’m not a football fan myself, but I think it’s good to have strong rivalries and devoted fans for each team. It makes the games more exciting when fans are passionate.
The place looks awesome! I wish I can visit Texas too.
Wish you come here, also, Jane. Where do you live?
Hi Lillie
Which part from Texas do you live? I have a travel blogger for a friend who lives in Texas. From what I know he lives in Austin. I have heard good things from him about your state. Even though he doesn’t stay there too long (since he travels around the world a lot), he always comes back home to Texas. He’s there now and won’t start traveling until late this year.
Scarlett
Scarlett,
I’m just down the road a little ways south of your friend in Austin. I’m in San Antonio. How about taking a trip to Texas and writing about it?
Texas is very famous for its vast diamond market. It is one of the beautiful cities in the U.S. and I would surely visit it once in my life. If not for anything then at least to buy some good quality and beautiful diamonds.
Zvi,
I didn’t know about the diamond market. That must be in Dallas where are all kinds of markets.
I have heard that Texas is a must visit place atleast once in a life time. I like going places and learning their traditions, culture, try out new cuisines, enjoy their nightlife, dance, music and art, etc. So maybe it is going be the next place I excplore.
Jenny,
I admit I’m biased, but I think everyone should visit and enjoy my home state.
I do not think you can get Florida bbq anywhere else, and you cannot get Tex-Mex meals anywhere else, either.
Murli,
It’s interesting that everyone tends to think what they are used to and like is the best. I’ve never had Florida bbq, but I always think Texas bbq is the best.
I have never been to Texas, but from these photos, visiting there is deffinately on my to-do list!
Thank you for sharing all the amazing photos!
Julia,
I wish I could take credit for the fabulous photos, the wonderful music, and the excellent video. However, all I take credit for is finding the video on Youtube.
I hope to go to texas by june next year. People there seem real nice and you got to love the music legends from Austin!
J,
Hope you have a wonderful visit to my home state.
Hi Lillie, nice video. Texas is a really nice state. I have visited there once with my relatives. I forgot what city it was because I was just 9 then, but it was near El Paso.
Jason,
Maybe it’s time to visit Texas again!
Hello Lillie,
We are hoping to be in San Antonio next week. Do you have a favorite Tex-Mex Restaurant you could recommend. Oh, please tell Jack that his Aggies are really doing great!
Thanks, Ronald
Ronald,
There are many excellent Tex-Mex restaurants here. Downtown, Mi Tierra is a favorite of tourists for both the food and the ambiance. La Fonda Oak Hills is a favorite of our family. Too many others to mention.
I can’t tell Jack about the Aggies, but I’m sure he knows. Obviously you haven’t read my recent blog posts. Jack died on September 23rd.
Hello Lillie,
I am so sorry to hear about Jack. I apologize for not keeping up with your blog posts like I should. You blog post is my favorite.
Thank you for your restaurant recommendations. I will let you know when I will be in San Antonio when I find out for certain. My son, his wife and two boys will be with me. Maybe we could buy your dinner?
Yours,
Ronald
Ronald,
I know it’s hard to keep up with blog posts–I have a difficult time reading all the blogs I enjoy.
If it works out, I’d be glad to have dinner with you and your family. Let me k now when you’ll be here.
It looks like we will be in San Antonio around 1:00. Their plans are to eat first so we will probably head for Mi Tierra. I am guessing it is on the River Walk? I have a Garmin GPS so I will just ask “her” the way there. If you are able we would love to meet with you. My grandson has been studying Texas History in school so you might be prepared to answer a few history questions. My grandson was born and raised on “Okie” and they have only been in Texas a little over a year.
As I think I mentioned earlier, my son, Tim, bleeds Sooner Red REALLY THICK! I keep praying for him though. lol
Have a blessed day!
Ronald
Ronald,
Sorry I didn’t see this earlier, but I’ve been trying to stay home and get some rest this week. Hope you and your family enjoyed Mi Tierra and San Antonio.
Hello Lillie,
Mi Tierra was excellent!! Thank you so much for recommending it. We had a very relaxing day in San Antonio. It is such a beautiful city. We took a stroll along the river walk. We had taken the boat ride before and we just wanted to walk and enjoy the beauty. My grandson got a lot of pictures for his class project. He is “slowly” starting to appreciate Texas history. You know how stubborn Okies can be at times. I hope you got some good rest. Maybe we can meet up the next time we are in San Antonio. Take great care of yourself.
Yours,
Ronald
Thanks, Ronald. I’m glad you had a good day and enjoyed Mi Tierra. I’m feeling a little better each day.
Hello Lillie,
I am so glad you are feeling better each day. Time is an effective healer. Please know that you are in my prayers each day. Just by reading your fabulous blog, it is evident that you are a very caring person. May God’s blessing be with you each day and may His love nurture your emotional healing.
Yours,
Ronald
Thank you, Ronald.
