May 2012 Is Stroke Awareness Month

May 1, 2012 by

May is National Stroke Awareness Month. As I’ve written about before, I had a stroke 20 years ago, and I don’t want you or someone you love to go through that.

To learn what stroke is, risk factors, prevention, how to recognize when someone is having a stroke and what to do about it, and more, visit the National Stroke Association website and read some of my previous posts:

Stroke is the fourth leading cause of death in the United States and a major cause for long-term disability. If you don’t want to be a part of those statistics, educate yourself about stroke during Stroke Awareness Month.

I’m so glad you have overcome your stroke and I can now read your blog and have gotten to know you. You are an inspiration to me.

As a side note, my friends dog had a 20 minute stroke recently. Awful.

    Thanks for the reminder.

      Dominique,

I’m glad for all those things, too!

I have been following your blog closely but with limited time, I usually read in a feed reader and don’t click over to leave a comment. I’m so excited about your weight loss–I am working on the same issue.

      Peejay,

So tragic that people are dying of heat stroke. Heat stroke is different from the kind of stroke I had, but both are serious and can cause death. It is good to educate yourself.
