Blogging Milestone: 1200 Posts
April 17, 2012 by Lillie
When I started blogging in June 2006, I didn’t envision that in less than six years, I would write 1200 blog posts. My blog has evolved in ways I couldn’t imagine. I thought I would be writing about writing and editing and publishing, and I didn’t expect interactive communication.
The blog has always been primarily a hobby for me, although I do hope that people will learn about my books and my services and that those who are interested will buy my books or use my services. My first goal, though, is to write what I want to write about the subjects I want to write about. Looking through my archives, I see that there are far more Christian posts than posts about writing. I’ve shared more personal information about my stroke and my husband than I anticipated, and I’ve written about causes that are important to me.
Perhaps what surprised me the most has been the interactive communication that has developed in the comments section. I have loyal readers who comment every month, and I have people who drop by to read one post. My 1200 posts have generated more than 11,000 comments from readers as well as an equal number of responses from me. I enjoy and appreciate reader comments and look forward to many more.
Thank you for reading some of my posts. My associate, Jan McClintock, and I are beginning a redesign of my website and blog. I’m excited about some new additions but some things will stay the same. What do you like most about my blog that shouldn’t be changed? What would you like to see improved or updated? I’d appreciate your feedback. After all, my blog wouldn’t be much fun if I just talked to myself—I can do that without a blog! Although I blog for fun, my goal is to provide inspiration, education, and entertainment to my readers. The blog—content, appearance, and functionality–is all designed for YOU.

Congratulations on reaching this significant milestone, Lillie. I am not surprised that you have traveled this far. I have been following your works for years and have enjoyed your consistent input. You have been a blessing to many including me. Keep up the good work!
Matt,
I guess we have a mutual admiration society.
You were one of the first people I met in the blogosphere, and I’ve been a fan of yours ever since.
Congratulations Lillie ! That’s really an impressive number of posts !
Next milestone at 1500
Brett,
Oh, I like to celebrate. I’ll probably celebrate 1300 and 1400 before 1500.
Then I will raise a glass of wine at 1300 for you
I’ll let you know when to raise that glass, Brett!
Congratulations, Lillie! That must be so exciting!
Thank you, Marie.
Congratulations Lillie! Good for you, you’ve reached 1000+ posts. A lot of bloggers gave up blogging even before writing their 100th blog post.
Fren,
I think a lot of people who start blogging think they will make a lot of money right away, and when they don’t, they give up. I’m not looking to make money on my blog, so that discouragement didn’t come for me. Also some people start a blog on a subject they think will appeal to a lot of readers, but the blogger doesn’t have enough knowledge or interest to sustain the blog over time. And some people just don’t have the discipline to stick with it, and some have life interfere with their plans.
Congratulation as you have traveled successful journey in the field of writing. Please I wanting to a series of article on ” creative writing”
Azam,
Tell me a little more about what you like to know about creative writing. Are you looking for specific advice on some kind of writing, such as short stories or novels? Or do want advice on how to be creative in all kinds of writing–coming up with ideas and presenting them in a creative way?
WOW! It’s amazing. Congratulation on reaching the milestone of 1200 posts. Keep going man. Write a post about your journey throughout six years to reach 1200 posts. You are the inspiration for many people.
Thanks, John. I just did it one day at a time, one post a time.
Wow that really is a milestone Lillie!
What do I like? The diversity of content, you write about an awful lot of stuff.
Improvements? Personally I would say maybe a small design update, but that is obviously your choice, and if you are happy with it, then it needs to stay.
Christopher,
The diversity of content has evolved through the years. I started out intending to write about writing and editing, but since I’m doing this for fun, I started writing about whatever interested me, and I’m really enjoying doing that. It’s nice to know that you appreciate the diversity as well.
I have a new design in the works–the new header will more accurately the diversity of content and will give a fresh, new look. But I’m keeping my color scheme and my yellow lilies!
I look forward to it!
Me, too, Christopher! My associate Jan and I have revamped blogs of a couple dozen of our clients, but, of course, like the cobbler whose children have no shoes, mine was put off until last.
I know what you mean Lillie, the thing is the clients are money!
Yep, Christoper. The money is the thing.
Perhaps I’m a little envy about you. It’s not very common to gain recognition of your job.
Greetings and congratulations.
Thank you, Chie.
No one gave me this recognition but myself.
I just wanted everyone to know about this step in my blogging journey. You can celebrate 10 posts, 100 posts, 1000 posts … or anything you are proud of.
Hehehe, you are right. It’s a little sad that we forget to celebrate for ourself, to recognite ourself…
I guess modern education teach us that we are successful only when our effords and work is evaluated with money.
I’m so happy to see people that can still have a different point of view…
Chie,
I’m a firm believer that we should acknowledge our achievements, which may or may not involve money or recognition by others.
I wish you success and development of your blog. Congratulation on reaching the milestone of 1200 posts. I believe in your success!
Thank you, Jack.
I have to say congratulations on what you have achieved with this blog, and yes I can understand what you mean when you say that you never though you would write so many blog posts, but its difficult to foresee the future of any website / blog when you first start off, its amazing what you can do when you keep at it.
Rob,
You said so much when you said,”its amazing what you can do when you keep at it. Maybe the most important secret of success in anything is persistence – perseverance – what my mother called “stick-to-it-iveness.”
