Don’t have labor day here in south Africa, but do enjoy yours. Funny, my wife asked me yesterday when we have another public holiday. It seems it might only be December 16th!

Yes, happy labour day to you, I hope you’re having a fine time with friends and loved ones :o )

I’m told by my Amercian buddies that labour day means the end of Summer – Here’s to healthy and happy fall to you and your readers.

Personally, I think the darkening evenings area good excuse to get holed up somewhere warm and catch up on the writing backlog ;o)

    Have fun,

    Dave.

  6. Lillie says:

    dave,

I’ve been trying to get caught up on reading. I’m judging the EPIC eBook Competition and have ten books to read in the next five weeks.

  7. Lillie says:

Thank you, Bluestocking. Hope you’re having a wonderful holiday as well.

    Deb,

Doesn’t that food look scrumptious? I had a great steak and baked potato. Hope you had a lovely day.

Happy day after Labor Day to all! I ended up working yesterday, putting in a full day. We freelancers don’t get paid unless we work. And, since I’m up against a hard deadline this weekend, I needed to get some work out of the way on Monday.

    Matt,

I well understand needing to work on a holiday. It was unusual for me to take Sunday and Monday off … and I really enjoyed it!

  14. Austin from Houston Electrician says:

Labor Day was originally started in 1883, so we officially celebrated 127 years of hard work Monday! It was hard work celebrating that many years of hard work ;) . I had an extra sausage to celebrate.

  15. Sarah,

You can celebrate twice. Happy Labor Day.

  16. Lillie Ammann says:

    Austin,

Wow! That might call for two extra sausages. :-)

  17. Wish Labor Day could have lasted two or three days instead of one…. blah, back to work we go…

  18. Lillie Ammann says:

    Leslie,

But the longer we’re off, the harder it is to go back and the more work is backed up.

  22. Lillie says:

  23. Jane from Recover Deleted Files says:

Belated Happy Labor Day! Now it’s back to work but somehow I was able to take an extended weekend and caught up with my readings and some household chores :) .

  24. Lillie says:

    Jane,

Glad you enjoyed the holiday and got caught up on some things. I did some reading and a lot of sleeping. :-)

  25. llen Cooper from AMobile locksmith in Dc says:

Poor Labor Day. Gets no respect. It’s the Rodney Dangerfield of celebrations. The runt of the holiday litter. Just hearing the name conjures up depressing images of a last plastic souvenir sports bottle of lemonade poured on the dying charcoal briquettes of summer. It’s the end of the bright light and the beginning of the darkness. Vacation is over and the fun has expired.

  26. Lillie says:

    Allen,

I always thought Labor Day marked the beginning of a wonderful time of year–back to school. Of course, I always loved school and looked forward to it beginning again in the fall.

  27. Michelle from Classic Photographers says:

The mere thought of Labor Day always brings a smile to my face. Labor Day happens to fall on my Dad’s birthday. When I was a little girl, I thought that it was a holiday on that day because it’s my Dad’s birthday! :) You know how little girls simply adore their dads. :)

    • Lillie says:

      Michelle,

Your dad’s birthday is on the first Monday in September? Or did the actual date of his birthday happen to fall on Labor Day one or more years when you were a little girl and it became a family tradition to celebrate his birthday on Labor Day?
