And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate. ~ Luke 15:21-34 (ESV)
Heavenly Father, I am not worthy to be called Your child. But when I repent and turn from sin, You celebrate and lavish me with love. Make me always penitent and grateful. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Dr. Voisin,
I have to repeat what I said in e-mail. I have NEVER blocked ToysPeriod.com. I do not recall marking comments from that domain as spam, but I get a lot of spam comments and don’t recall them all. If your students left comments identified only by keywords and not names, I would have marked the comments spam. If any of your students left a message such as “great post, thanks for sharing,” I would have marked it spam. I appreciate relevant comments, but I do not allow comments that make me wonder if the commenter even read the post.
I have, in fact, approved comments from toysperiod.com. I searched my comments archive and found 7 approved comments from 2 different commenters other than you. The first comment you left ended up in spam, but I retrieved it.
If your students leave relevant comments, I will approve them. If they leave comments I deem to be spam, I will mark the comments as spam. I consider any comment spam that leads me to believe the commenter didn’t read the comment. For example, I wrote a post about being attacked by a Doberman. I had comments from people who obviously read no further than the title, What I Learned from Animals. People said things like, “thanks for sharing about your love of animals,” and “pets are such a blessing, I don’t know what we would do without them.”
I also expect comments to be on the subject of the post, with very few exceptions. Normally, I would not approve a worldly comment on a spiritual post. However, I am not deleting your comment (it was automatically approved because I had approved an earlier comment from you) even though it is inappropriate on this post because we have been having a continuing discussion. In general, however, I will delete comments that are totally unrelated to the post.
Yes, I have a strict comment policy, and I intend to continue to adhere to it. My policy has evolved through the years I have been blogging. I used to allow just about anything until I finally got tired of comments from keywords instead of people and comments obviously left only for a PR4 DoFollow backlink and not because the commenter had the least interest in what I had to say.
I consider comments to be part of the conversation here, and I want the conversation to be personal, relevant, and interesting.
If your students can operate within my policy, I will be delighted to approve and respond to their comments, as I do to all legitimate commenters.
Dear Lillie,
You have indeed unblocked ToysPeriod.
I know our grad students will be thrilled.
I hope all is well with you today.
Dr. Ann
Dr. Ann,
See my response to your earlier comment. I did not unblock toysperiod.com because I never blocked it in the first place.
