Scripture for Christmas Eve
December 24, 2009 by Lillie
John 1:1-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.
Lord God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, You came into the world in the form of a tiny babe in a manger to shine Your light in the darkness. Open our eyes to see and our hearts to receive the light. In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, ever one God world without end. Amen.

God bless you Lillie, wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas!

Such beautiful verse, Lillie. and I love the prayer. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Let us remember the reason for the season!
Thank you, Dawn.
Merry Christmas!
It is amazing to me that a person could look at the beautiful world we have and not know there is an intelligence behind it all.
Case in point.
We were watching a commercial the other day showing a new toy, perhaps you’ve seen it, the robotic hamster.
A secular professor was there as well, and I asked him whether he felt the toy could have evolved naturally given enough time, in the way he posits our world evolved.
To our surprise he responded, no, of course not. Look at the little gears and the plastic housing. There isn’t any way that that could have happened for example in the oceans of our world or on dry land for that matter.
However, we pointed out, the person explaining the plastic toy was a billion times more complex. We challenged the professor and with a straight face, he said. Yes, but the woman explaining the hamster toy is living, and therefore, evolution is the answer. All by chance.
Of course, this is simply another example of the “found watch” story where someone finds a watch and knows for sure there was an intelligent designer involved.
It’s remarkable to me that secular humanists have closed off a banger for the big bang, but would never admit that a book they are holding could have been formed accidentally given enough time. A book, a trillion times less complex than the being holding it, but the secular professor insists we are simply accidents of nature. Same with the entire planet and its beauty.
Why would such a person be deemed an intellectual? Now that’s a mystery to me.
Its one thing to be agnostic. But to be an absolutist in the face of evidence to the contrary does not seem to be a very enlightened position.

Vincenti,
I agree with you. That attitude is not intellect but ignorance and arrogance. I think atheists deny the truth because they want to be in control of their own lives—and when can’t be in control (which is most of the time if we’re honest), they want to blame it on the vagaries of chance rather than on an orderly plan by an omnipotent, omnisicient, and omnipresent God. They want their freedom and pride now, but they don’t realize what they are sacrificing for eternity.
All we can do for people like that is to pray for them.
Lille God bless you. You have give strenth to our bleif.
