Books We Love Holiday Contest
December 2, 2009 by Lillie
You probably have some folks on your Christmas list who would love a book (or several books!).
You can shop for Christmas gifts, enjoy getting to know new authors and books, and have a chance to win an e-book reader in the Books We Love Holiday Contest.
The grand prize is an eBookwise Reader. I have used an eBookwise for several years and love the fact that it’s backlit. I’ve read through a four-hour power outage on this reader. Although I use the Kindle more now because of the Whispernet and the ability to make the font larger, I still use the eBookwise to read in low light.
Other prizes include a gourmet gift basket and lots of books, including Dream or Destiny—both electronic and print.
All you have to do to enter is to sign up for the Books We Love mailing list. Signing author guest books will get you bonus entries.
Note that you can’t buy the books directly from Books We Love, but when you find a book you want, follow the link to the author’s Web site, Amazon.com, or other online store to place your order.
Books We Love gives you the opportunity to find some great books from independent presses that might be new to you.

I always love books coz books are a nice source of knowledge and information.
slaven,
Most of the books at Books We Love are fiction so they are primarily for entertainment. However, as in my novel, people can learn about domestic violence while they enjoy the book so some novels have information as well as entertainment.
A good book is like good friend

Jennifer,
And great characters in good books can feel like wonderful friends.
Thanks for spreading the word about this, Lillie.

Dawn,
Glad to tell others about Books We Love and the great contests, Dawn.
I love to read fairy tales and romantic novels during my travel trips. So, I think, if anyhow, I win this contest then that will be a good Christmas gift fr me.
John,
Good luck in the contest. And if you don’t win … you can still buy yourself a good book or let others know that would be a good gift for you.
I think books are the perfect gift to give for Christmas, especially since they will never let you down even when your DVR does by not recording your favorite show… I’m definitely going to check out this contest.
C,
Not that I’m biased or anything … but I think books are the perfect gift, too.
I think this can be an great opportunity to find some really interesting books from authors which I might not have chance to know about.

chakru,
You’re right. I’ll bet you discover some authors you haven’t heard of with books you’d like to read.
I’m an avid reader – but for some reason I just can’t get the hang of ebook readers. I confess to being an addict of books as objects as well as for their content – I love the feel and weight of them (I always take a surreptitious sniff of new books in a store – am I the only person who does this?!). But I also know many people who adore ebook readers for their convenience. Perhaps I’ll come round in time ..!

Rob,
To each his own, as the saying goes. That’s why my most of my books and most of my clients’ books are available in both print and electronic formats.
For those of us with arthritic hands, the weight and feel of print books (especially hardbacks) can be painful. For those of us with vision problems, the relatively tiny print in paper books can mean we can’t even decipher what’s on the page. For some of us, e-books are a blessing that allow us to read when we couldn’t otherwise do it. There are few print books I can read, but I can read anything I want on my e-book reader.
I won’t make fun of you for smelling books if you don’t make fun of me for scoffing at print books.
Giving books as a present in holiday occasion & special time of the year is sign of taste & class.also books are not only is a source of knowledge & information but also a good source of entertainment & joy, which seldom can be found in other form of entertainment.

Charles,
You’ve said what I feel as a booklover—no better gift than a book, except a gift certificate for the recipient to choose their own book.
