Scripture for the First Tuesday in Advent

December 1, 2009 by Lillie

2 Corinthians 10:4

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the
contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.

Father, we thank you that You have given us weapons that are not of  this world. Your divine power can demolish strongholds. Demolish the strongholds of apathy, sin, and hardheartedness in our hearts. Create new hearts in us that we may be refreshed and motivated to serve You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

The world has changed so so so much. We are faced with so may diverse cultures, people and schools of thought. it is sad in one sense that people can co-exist in a co-operative society, but I guess thats just the natural progression.

Weapons if used for welfare of nation, surely brings benefit, but it is really sad that nations now a days don’t understand the chaos of war and they just commit mistakes easily on the verge of lives of lacks of people

    • Lillie says:

      Tom,

Sadly, sometimes nations have to fight to defend their people and their way of life. But that happens because other nations or groups commit evil or wage war to destroy others.

  6. William Cole from Affordable Seo says:

yeah, weapons and artilleries when used for the welfare of nation will surely uplift the nation as a developed nation but again If it is used for negative impact, it can also erase the name of nation too.

  7. Sara from Expert Witness says:

Hi Lillie, long time lurker, first time poster. Your posts are always great, but this one resonated with me the most, especially since my younger brother passed away fighting in the war. In times of tragedy, I find comfort in reading these scriptures. Thank you so much.

    • Lillie says:

      Sara,

My sympathy to you and your family for your loss and my thanks to your late brother and your family for his sacrifice.

Scripture can be so comforting in times of pain and sorrow. May all of you find comfort and peace in God’s Word.
