Prayers for Fort Hood

November 5, 2009 by Lillie

For Those Who Died:
REMEMBER thy servants—the victims who were murdered today at Fort Hood, O Lord, according to the favour which thou bearest unto thy people, and grant that, increasing in knowledge and love of thee, they may go from strength to strength, in the life of perfect service, in thy heavenly kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost ever, one God, world without end. Amen.

For Those in Mourning:
O MERCIFUL God, and heavenly Father, who hast taught us in thy holy Word that thou dost not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men; Look with pity, we beseech thee, upon the mourning of thy servants for whom our prayers are offered. Remember them, O Lord, in mercy; comfort them with a sense of thy goodness; lift up thy countenance upon them, and give them peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For Those Who Were Injured:
ALMIGHTY God our heavenly Father, we beseech thee graciously to comfort thy servants in their sufferings and to bless the means made use of for their cures. Fill their hearts with confidence, that though they be sometime afraid, they yet may put their trust in thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

My thoughts, condolences and prayers go out to all the victims families, friends and loved ones who have been affected by this great tragedy.

The more I learn about this tragedy, the more it seems like the signs were there. I hope in the future, we can do a better job of paying attention to these kinds of warning signs.

My heart is with all those who were hurt and killed at Fort Hood, it is unfair that you must goto war to fight, only to have to fight at home…

      Steve,

I’m afraid we’ve become too politically correct and end up with things like this happening because deeply disturbed people must be given their rights. I certainly believe in human rights for everyone, and I know there have been many abuses in the treatment of the mentally ill and even people who are just different throughout history. However, there has to be a balance between protecting the rights of troubled people and protecting the lives of others.

This was an awful crime and horrific tragedy. I have thought about the victims and their families every day since the day it happened. I just cannot fathom how they must feel.

    • Lillie says:

      Patrick,

My heart goes out to the victims and their loved ones. Our soldiers willingly risk their lives for our freedom, but no one ever expects them to be in danger in their home base and from one of their own.
