Wow, that is a lot of comments from many different people, Lillie! Not surprised because you always are an encouragement and dispense helpful advice while asking for nothing in return.
I’ll make sure I keep it up in the months ahead!
Matt,
Thank you for the kind words.
Some of the commenters this month, especially those with no blogs/Web sites of their own, came here because of Read an E-Book Week. They commented in order to get a freee-book. I’m delighted they found my blog and asked for an e-book during the event. I hope they enjoy the book and want to read more e-books, especially my books.
I also hope they come back to read my blog.
Lillie,
What a broad range of commenters you have!
I’m going to have to lift my game and see if I can make the signficant commenters list next month.
Andrew´s last blog post..How 35 workplace deaths were exposed in an internet chat room
Andrew,
I keep a running tally during the month to make it easy to compile the monthly thanks. You’re already a significant contributor this month; a couple more comments, and you’ll be outstanding.
Hi Lillie,
Wow, it looks like the time is passing by like the speed of light… By the way, thanks for the listing out my name again!
wilson,
Thanks for being a regular and frequent commenter. I really appreciate your consistency and participation.
Thanks for listing out my name there! Really appreciated it. Expect more comments soon as I’ll be reading over your blog every now and then.
cheers!
Cesar,
Thank you for commenting! Looking forward to more comments from you.
Surprise surprise, a great Sunday surprise.. Thank you Lillie..
But how could you compile the list Lillie? It would be a lot of pain. Searching a post for a comment from person A and other comments from A on other posts and similarly to B,C ………Huhh.
I was just thinking whether your doing the same thing since your memoir part 3 is written a week back and there has been no update in your blog since then..
Btw, I completed the memoir of my father’s grand father and now reached my grand fathers generation. There was not a lot of information available about the former and hence it was over quickly but from this generation it would be a very loooooooooong story..
Thank you once again Lillie.
sriraj,
Thank you and congratulations for being the top contributor to my blog last month! I appreciate all your comments.
The first time I compiled the thank-you list, it took a very long time—it was for a whole year, and I didn’t have a good system for doing it. I went through the comments in my WordPress dashboard and manually compiled the list. The next two times were for a quarter of the year (three months); they were still a lot of work, but not as much as the first time because I kept a list throughout the quarter.
Since July of last year, I have compiled the list every month, and I can now create the post in an hour or less, the same amount of time I usually spend on a post.
I have a Excel workbook for comments, and each month I start a new page. Each time I moderate and reply to comments, I record the names of new commenters and record the date for people already on the list. It’s easy to copy and paste the person’s name and Web site from the previous list if they commented the month before. At the end of the month, I sort the list by number of comments then copy and paste the first two columns of the Excel spreadsheet into Dreamweaver, then copy and paste the HTML code from Dreamweaver into Word Press. Each time it gets faster and easier.
Regarding my posting schedule: I typically post on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of each week. However, I posted daily during Holy Week and Easter, so this week I only wrote two more posts. Next week, I’ll be back to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until I get off-schedule again (either for a special event that doesn’t happen on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday or because I get so busy with client work I don’t have time to post).
Glad to hear you’re making progress on your family history!
I look forward to many more comments from you in the future!
So you update the list on a daily basis. Thats great and a quick way to get things ready at the end of a month.
The list of important contributors (from alphabet B) is repeated twice. Is that something done purposely or ….?
sriraj,
Thank you for catching my error! After I just told you what a good system I have, you point out it didn’t work this time.
I’ve corrected it now. When I copied and pasted originally, I inadvertently left off the names beginning with A in the Important Contributors list. However, when I checked and saw they weren’t there, I didn’t look closely enough to realize it was just the As that were missing, so I copied and pasted the entire list again.
So now we know my system isn’t foolproof.
It works if I pay closer attention when I copy and paste.
Hi Lille, You sure have had lots of people come by and share! Thank you for taking the time to mention everyone. So generous of you!
Brad,
This month was a few more than usual because of the free e-books I gave away during Read an E-Book Week.
I’m always glad to acknowledge the people who make this blog so much fun!
Thanks for the recognition, Lillie! I’m only sorry I haven’t been able to leave more comments lately. But, my mom’s care is taking up nearly all my time right now.
Jeanne,
We miss your comments and your posts on your own blog, but caring for family in time of need is overriding. Prayers going out for you and your mother.
Thanks so much, Lillie! Your prayers are truly appreciated–and definitely needed!
Jeanne,
Please keep us posted on your mother … and take care of yourself as well.
Thank you, Lillie. I’ll do my best to find the time to do both of the above!
Good, Jeanne.
Thanks, Lillie! You are always so gracious. I love stopping by your blog – I always come away feeling encouraged and uplifted. Keep doing what you’re doing!
Blessings to you.
Thank you, Renae. We have a mutual fan club.
Wow that is a really great list, I hope I can contribute and become active on your great website.
Great idea honouring all the top contributers.
Cheers,
Leo
Leo,
Thank you. I look forward to your contributions.
Wow I got a mention! Thank you for recognising the importantance of discussion and feedback on a blog – and thank you again for providing such interesting posts. Please keep writing!
Paul,
You’re welcome for the mention, and thank you for the kind words.
I love your attitude towards your comments. Thanks for an outstanding website!
air,
I hope you like my attitude when I suggest I’d rather address commenters as real people rather than keywords.
With Keyword Luv, you can write YourName@Keywords, and I can address you by name, and you will still get your keyword link.
Thanks for commenting. I do appreciate hearing from readers.
Thanks for noticing all of us!
You’re welcome, Jeff.
Would you like to display a list of the top commenters in your blog? This widget will enable you to do exactly that! If you install this widget, a list of the top ten people who have commented most in your blog will be displayed with along with the count of comments they have made. This is a great way of thanking readers who comment regularly and is very easy to add to your blog layout using the one click widget installer.
solar (if you wrote Your Name @ solar panels build your own, I could address you as a person instead of energy device, and you would still get your keyword link),
You didn’t explain which plugin you’re talking about. I have the Top Commenters plugin installed and activated but for some reason, I haven’t been able to get it to work.
