  1. Ruth Searle says:

That was a good video. I am not sure how they could call that movie the “passion” of Christ.

    • Lillie says:

      Ruth,

The original meaning of passion was suffering, and the period between the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, when Jesus endured tremendous suffering, has been called the Passion of Christ for centuries.

Later the meaning of the word evolved, as meanings of words often do, to mean strong emotion and even later the sexual meaning evolved.

But Passion (capitalized) continues to mean the sufferings of Christ leading up and including his Crucifixion as it has for hundreds of years.

    Lillie,

It was truly an amazing sacrifice, well beyond anything which I could ever comprehend or understand.

Thanks for sharing this video, a wonderful reminder of why Easter is such a special occasion.

    Happy Easter.

You’re welcome, Andrew. I try to focus myself on Jesus’ sacrifice during this season so searching for and finding this video was great for me as well.

  3. wilson says:

I didn’t get the chance to see this movie, Lillie. Maybe I should watch it with my family, when we have the free time!

    • Lillie says:

      wilson,

The Passion of the Christ is well worth watching. It is not a movie you enjoy—it’s too painful to watch. However, it is a powerful movie that has touched everyone I know who has seen it.

  4. Jimmy says:

Great video, and I loved the passion of the Christ, its one of my favorite movies. It’s very dificult to represent something like the crucifiction of Christ in such a moving way like Mel Gibson did in this movie.

    • Lillie says:

      Jimmy,

I can’t say The Passion of the Christ is one of my favorite movies. It is too painful to watch. Yet it is one of the most moving and impactful movies I have ever seen.

  5. Laura says:

I keep meaning to watch it. My mother said it was very emotional.

    • Lillie says:

      Laura,

The Passion of the Christ is very emotional—even painful to watch. However, I think every Christian benefits from watching it at least once.

  6. Thomas says:

I am not sure about Jesus any more. I used to call him for help for years, often in tears man….he never answered nor helped. Now I do not believe it anymore. It is probably just that we people always needed something to cling to in our hours of despair.

    • Lillie says:

      Thomas,

I do think we need Someone to hold on to in our time of despair, and I believe that Someone is Jesus Christ.

I’m sorry you feel your prayers weren’t answered. One of the hardest thing about being a Christian is not understanding why things do or don’t happen the way we want or expect. Jesus never promised us that we would not have trials or tribulations; in fact, He said that we would have even more because we follow Him. However, He promised to be with us always.

Sometimes we look for the wrong things when we ask God for help. We want our problems to be solved, our troubles to disappear, our pain to go away. God can do that, and sometimes He does. But not always. Why? I don’t know, nor does anyone who is still an imperfect being on this earth.

The Bible says that God’s ways are far above our ways, His thoughts far higher than ours. We cannot begin to understand, nor should we expect to.

What He can and will do for us if we call on Him is to change our hearts, not necessarily to change our circumstances. Often what we think is best for us may not be best eternally. I wrote about this in Life is a Piece of Cake.

Often we think we know what’s best, but as one single human, I do not have the knowledge or power to know what is best. I am not the higher power—yet I know there is one because the odds of the world coming together in a big bang are too unbelievable for me.

Knowing that there is a Higher Power who knows more than I do, I can accept—though it isn’t always easy—that I won’t always understand or like what happens. But when ask God to comfort me, He does. In many cases, I have been blessed to have prayers answered as I wrote about in my series on healing miracles.

However, not all of my prayers are answered in the way I would like. That doesn’t destroy my faith; I am confident that at the end of time I will come to understand.

  7. Great reply to thomas there lillie…

During a time of need, I was like thomas asking for help… praying and crying… Though at that time I felt that my prayer was never answered, but after I thought about it after a few months… I know Jesus was with me that time… Though He never actually answer you prayer, but He will always be with you… I felt that during the time of crisis.. without prayer to Him, it could have been a lot harder to go through…

Jesus does not always answer you prayer the way you want it, but rest assured what He will do for you is always the best…

It’s always hard when things don’t turn out the way we think they should. Yet we can’t begin to understand God’s plan or the big picture—we don’t know what’s best for us. God does, though, and when He doesn’t give us what we want, He gives us what we need. And most of all, that is His Love and His presence.

Thanks for sharing this heart-warming video. Where is it from, if I may ask? Actually i haven’t been able to bring myself to watch The Passion of the Christ yet, after reading all the reviews saying how violent it is. But perhaps it’s about time..

Ok, but thanks anyway Lillie for taking the time to reply!

  10. Michael says:

I like the last part of the movie when resurrection of Jesus is presented proving that the divine nature of God – Christ never suffered and never died. Only on this basis Jesus could heal the sick displaying the saving and healing power of eternal Christ.

    • Lillie says:

      Michael,

I’m not quite sure what you’re saying. Christ was truly divine but also truly man so I believe he did suffer and die. His divine nature overcame pain, suffering, and death.
