Rick,

As a novelist, of course, I hope books continue to fluorish. While reading habits are changing, I think blogs and the Internet can actually help the sales and readership of books. People who are daunted by a book may be more willing to read shorter pieces, and once they start reading, they are more willing to expand what they read to longer pieces.

Also there are many, many sites online devoted to books and reading. Tons of book blogs review and talk about books, generating interest in readers. Sites like GoodReads get people talking about books and reading, again a positive. And sites like DailyLit and the many sites that give away free e-books of classics raise awareness and interest in class literature.

So I don't see the end of books any time soon, though I do see that e-books will become more popular, not replacing print books but providing another (and less expensive) option.

The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books is coming this weekend to UCLA. I've noticed an increase in the number of self-published authors promoting their publications but also in the companies that offer affordable, on-demand, digital press, limited run printing services. I hope blogging and the web does not spell the doom of books.

Maybe one day I'll get brave enough to try a podcast ... but not this week. :-)

KDL (if you wrote YourName@Keywords, I could address you as a real person, and you could still have your keyword link),

It looks like you might have been searching for a different person since you spelled the name differently. However, I'm glad you found this post and will return for the interview.

I would also be interested in hearing a podcast. Actually, it'd be good 'work listening.'
