Blogapalooza: What I Learned from 2008
January 10, 2009 by Lillie
Robert Hruzek is hosting Blogapalooza over at Middle Zone Musings. All you have to do to participate is to write a post listing your favorite post for every month you blogged in 2008 (12 posts if you blogged all year). Robert is posting the entries through January 25. His goal is 100 guest posts, and he’s already received more than 90. If you haven’t entered, it’s not too late to help Robert reach his goal and to get the SEO benefits of a dozen incoming links.

Sounds like a great event.
shelly,
It is a great event—the only problem is there will be about 1200 great posts I’ll want to read!
Lillie you’re back. How is your leg?

Bluestocking,
I’m much better, thank you. I can get to the bathroom and dining room (to eat the meals my husband prepares) by myself. I can get into the shower (yay!) and out to my office in the backyard with Jack’s help. Less pain and more mobility every day.
Yeah, I saw your post an hour ago at Robert’s blog, Lillie. It’s a nice list and you’ve made the terrific selection here!

wilson,
Thank you. You are always so supportive, and I appreciate it.
Sounds like a great idea and a bit difficult to organize.
Morgan Mandel
Morgan,
I certainly wouldn’t want to handle the logistics of soliciting and receiving 100 guest posts, posting them all with links to the original posts, and promoting the event! It was a challenge for me to come up with my own post.
Thanks again for participating in Blogapalooza this year, Lillie! Hat tip to ya!
My pleausre, Robert. Looks like you’re close to your goal of 100 entries. Hope you make it!
This sounds like an interesting event. I better put some time aside to go and read all the posts.
Hope your feeling much better now, glad to have you back.
Jana,
Better read a few at a time. If Robert gets near his goal of 100 entries, there’ll be close to 1200 individual posts linked!
that sure is an event of the year. A must join i must say. Just post and we get all the traffic and backlink. a win win situation

Blogapalooza is a win-win situation, but I wouldn’t want to do all the work Robert is doing to put this together.
You’re right, i think this event could really lead to some cool conclusions about 2008 and blogging, but 1200 posts + comments if they were interesting/active posts could be daunting. it can’t hurt to try though. thanks for the heads up.
Jim,
I’m a week behind on work because I’ve been out with an injury so it’s going to be hard to get to all these posts. But there’s no expiration date—we can read them anytime.
We alway learn as we go old:)

I don’t know that we always learn as we grow old. I’ve met some old people who didn’t seem to learn much.
Sounds like a great idea!Let’s help Robert!

Robert has already exceeded his goal, but he’s still taking submissions. He’s going to be a busy man for the next couple of weeks.
That’s a nice place for writers and bloggers even to spend all their time. At the beginning all this world was hidden to me but now I am much blessed to read all those good writers and their stuff at their best.
Toldo,
When we first begin blogging, all of us are lost. But as we visit more blogs and get more familiar with the Internet and blogosphere, we find amazing bloggers.
Congratulations to Robert for achieving his goal. I’d love to hear what he’s on now.
Amar,
You can go to Robert’s blog and look in the right sidebar. He has a graphic showing the current number of entries.

Ian,
Enjoy! I know you’ll find lots of outstanding posts.
Well done Robert. Looks like it’s a great success!
I will go have a look at some of the entries. Not sure I have time to read them all though.
Stan,
Anyone who has time to read 1200+ posts in a short amount of time doesn’t have anything else to do.
I think I’m already late to submit. But this feat is extraordinary. Thank you for setting aside some of your time for this kind of project.
Noni (if you typed YourName@Keyword, I could address you as a real person and you would still receive your keyword link),
There’s still time to participate; Robert is taking submissions until January 25th.
It’s Robert at Middle Zone Musings that is doing this project, and he must be spending an incredible amount of time on it. He deserves thanks and recognition. All I’m doing is telling people about it.
This is a pretty ingenious way to get some guest contributed content on your site. I used to get people to contribute editorials to my site but social networking seemed to zap the interest in many people doing that anymore.
JC´s last blog post..Anastacia ‘Absolutely Positively’ Video
JC,
I guarantee you it would be easier to write your own content than to solicit, format, and post 120+ submissions with 12 links in most of them, plus bios and photos.
And that doesn’t even consider the promotion Robert had to do to get all those entries. I’m overwhelmed just skimming through the entries. I can’t imagine putting this thing together.
