Wishing You a Blessed 2009

As we begin a new year, I thank you for reading and commenting on my blog, for buying and reading my book, for working with you on your writing and editing projects.
I wish each of you a blessed 2009, a year of health, happiness, and success. And when your blessings are interspersed with trials and tribulations, may you enjoy the peace that passes understanding as you become stronger and wiser.

ALMIGHTY God, who alone gavest us the breath of life, and alone canst keep alive in us the holy desires thou dost impart; We beseech thee, for thy compassion’s sake, to sanctify all our thoughts and endeavours; that in the coming year we may neither begin an action without a pure intention nor continue it without thy blessing. And grant that, having the eyes of the mind opened to behold things invisible and unseen, we may in heart be inspired by thy wisdom, and in work be upheld by thy strength, and in the end be accepted of thee as thy faithful servants; through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

Too often we fail to recognize and give thanks for our blessings because it’s so easy to pay attention to the things that don’t go well rather than the good things that happen. You are wise to be thankful for your blessings and to recognize that you have to work hard as well.

I pray for our president and all our leaders daily, asking God to give them discernment, wisdom, and commitment to the interests of the country rather than their own personal interests.
2009 is going to be a fantastic year beyond your wildest imagination. Specifically, there are going to be sweeping reforms to the medical system and how people are treated for cancer and the majority of serious human disease. I know that’s kind of ambiguous, but in due time you will understand (and when it happens, you can say, “Oh yeah, I remember a blog comment subtly mentioning this!)

Now that we are almost half way through 2009, what shall we plan for 2010? A world of peace and harmony? Love, passion and compassion for all? Joyful living?

All wonderful thoughts … but I think we also need to be prepared for the peace that passes understanding in the midst of trials and tribulations. As long as the world is populated by imperfect beings, peace and harmony aren’t likely.
I am afraid that human beings are incapable of living at peace! On the rare occasion when we have no external wars to fight, we then fight internal ones within our own souls.

There’s only one way to find peace in our souls and that is through God.
Can you believe it is almost 2010 now? I have already made a New Year’s resolution for 2010. Just enjoy life more. I focus so much on the things I don’t have and yet I am very, very blessed.

Focusing on the positive is an excellent resolution. Too often most of us notice what we don’t have rather than what we have.
We just had a testimony service at church to tonight, so it is ironic that I found this website. We have so much to be thankful for, and when I see what some others go through, I realize how blessed I am.
