Honoring Our Veterans

November 11, 2008 by Lillie

ALMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, in whose hands are the living and the dead; We give thee thanks for all those thy servants who have offered their lives in the service of our country. Grant to them thy mercy and the light of thy presence, both now and ever. Stretch forth, we pray thee, thine almighty arm to strengthen and protect the soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines of our country. Support them in the day of battle, and in the time of peace keep them safe from all evil; endue them with courage and loyalty; and grant that in all things they may serve without reproach; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

It’s a shame that so many people have to die for essentially no reason. We need to stop this ASAP!

Sometimes people die for a worthy cause like protecting our freedoms. Our country would not have remained free for more than two hundred years if people hadn’t been willing to defend it when necessary. I honor anyone willing to give up their own life for the good of other people.

Justin, I’m sorry that you don’t see a reason. Look around. We live in a democracy because someone died to give us that freedom. We have jobs because we don’t live in a dictatorship where they tell us how to live. We have freedom to choose our president because noone is ordering us to obey their henchmen.
My Dad served in the Korean War because he wanted to protect his freedoms and mine. We owe the veterans respect for their sacrifices!

wilson,
Late or not, it’s always appropriate to thank our veterans.

I wish more people would realize what a debt we owe our veterans and active duty military. We should thank them every day, not just Veteran’ Day.
