Blog Book Tour Stop at eWritings: Getting Published with a Little Help from My Friends

November 7, 2008 by Lillie

Today, Mihaela (Mig) Lica is hosting me at eWritings - Online Public Relations again. Mig was one of the first readers of Dream or Destiny so it’s fitting that I wrote a guest post on Getting Published with a Little Help from My Friends. If you think a published book is the result of the efforts of one person—the author—read the post to find out how many people helped bring Dream or Destiny to fruition.

I will be sure to follow your words on this topic, being new as I am to e-book writing. Great subject, and btw, your new story “Dream or Destiny” sounds great. You capture the readers attention straight away, I like that, and for e-writing it’s important, because we need to always bear in mind many people “speed reading” web pages.

Thank you, Mark.

I see that you are serializing fiction on your blog. Let me know how that goes.

It is interesting to hear some of the back story on how you became a writer and how your book got published. You are right that looking at the cover of a book, you don’t really get the full sense of what it took to get the book published.

Thanks, Brad. I’m glad you enjoyed reading about the many people who helped me on the road to publishing this book.

I hope you buy the book and enjoy reading it. It is available in paperback, e-book, and Kindle editions.

One of the benefits of electronic publishing (like ebooks) is that it cuts out some of the middlemen and other people involved in the publishing process, but as someone’s who has published five of my own ebooks, it still takes lots of help. Writers, proofreaders, readers, and people to help research new ideas…the list goes on. “Real” publishing has to be even worse.

RW,

Electronic publishing cuts out middlemen if you self-publish. Today many traditional publishers publish both electronically and in print. And there are many e-publishers who go through the same kind of process as traditional print publishers.

Self-publishing can be either print or electronic or both. Most of my editing clients self-publish their work in both formats.

But you are certainly right that it requires a lot of help to do it right.
