Podcast Interview at The Bluestocking Guide

October 29, 2008 by Lillie

I’m back at The Bluestocking Guide again for the next stop on my blog book tour. Brooke aka Bluestocking interviewed me for a podcast. She is an attorney and domestic violence victims’ advocate so the interview is focused on domestic violence in general and domestic violence in Dream or Destiny in particular. As I said in the interview, I became very emotionally involved with the characters and their psychological reactions to the abuse they suffered. Brooke and I had a great conversation that I think you will find it interesting and enlightening. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and I hope Dream or Destiny and this interview will help raise awareness of this very important topic.

Lillie,

Domestic violence is an extremely important issue – there is absolutely no place for violence within the marriage relationship. Any public awareness which Dream and Destiny raises in relation to the issue is more than welcome.

Offenders need to realise that their actions are unacceptable, and victims need to understand that its not their fault, and they do not need to put up with it.

The general public needs to become aware of the signs of potential abuse, along with any action which may be appropriate should they suspect any cases of abuse.

Andrew,
Someone commented that the podcast sounded like a class in domestic violence taught by two instructors. I hope many people will listen to it. Bluestocking is a domestic violence victims’ advocate as well as an attorney, and she is very knowledgeable on the subject. I’m so pleased that she said Dream or Destiny, unlike most fiction she reads, presents domestic violence realistically. She even thought I had personal experience with domestic violence because the abused characters’ psychological reactions are so accurate. Interestingly, I didn’t set out to write about domestic violence. Bluestocking asked me why I chose that topic, and the answer is that I didn’t choose the topic—the topic chose me.

This is a neat interview, I am listening to it right now :) It is cool that you are helping to spread the word, because domestic violence is a very real problem.

Thanks, Brad. Between Bluestocking’s review and the podcast, there’s a lot of information on domestic violence. I’m glad I was able to visit her blog during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

I agree that domestic violence is an important topic that should not be taken lightly. It does not belong in our society and should not be accepted at any cost.
