I’m Home and Settling In
September 29, 2008 by Lillie
Finally … my Web site and blog are together. I love the Revolution Pro Business theme and the gorgeous header designed by the talented artist, Aundrea Hernandez (who also created the cover for Dream or Destiny).
I’m still working to get everything right. I lost my blogroll in the transfer so will have to re-create it. If your blog has been on my blogroll, check when you see the blogroll is back in a few days. Let me know if I’ve overlooked you.
There are still a lot of images missing. Though they seem to have transferred, somehow the links went haywire. So I’ll be working on that.
As far as I know, all the pages are complete. Please let me know if you find any links that don’t work or see anything missing or strange.
You may not see any new posts this week while I finish settling in, but I’ll be back to a normal schedule next week. Thanks for sticking around!

Acai,
Yes, Brian does have great themes.
Lillie,
The site looks fantastic! I should tell you, though, that I would come here to read your words even it you had a blank sheet of paper with your name and blog content on it!
Rita
We’re looking at some redesign work for one our sites and I really like your header. Is there a link for Aundrea’s business?
Rita,
You are so sweet! Thank you.
Nicole,
She’s not taking any new customers now.
I wish Aundrea could clone herself.
i love the Lay out
Thank you, Dubai.
Good work on setting everything up. Doesn’t it feel good accomplishing something!
Justin,
I still have plugins that don’t work and broken image links. But I’ve had to focus on some other things and haven’t been able to spend the time to get them fixed. I am pleased that the major work is done, and I do like the way the theme turned out.
Thanks! It would feel good if I was ever satisfied.
Congrats on your update, Lillie! It looks great! And though you may be experiencing a few glitches right now, I’m sure you’ll soon have everything just purring along!
Thanks, Jeanne. Overall, I’m pleased—just eager to fix those few glitches.
That’s certainly understandable! You’ll then be free to relax and enjoy your new site — instead of focusing on troubleshooting!
Jeanne,
One of the things I’m troubleshooting is Threaded Comments. I sure miss our conversations being nested.
I miss comment nesting, too, Lillie. I also miss comment editing, though I figure you’re probably working on that, as well.
Yes, Jeanne, it seems that none of my comment plugins are working. I thought maybe Keyword Luv was interfering with the others since that was a new one I added and all the others played together nicely before. However, I deactivated Keyword Luv and it didn’t seem to make a difference.
I’m confident that you’ll get it all squared away soon.
Hi Lillie, comment luv may be the culprit. I read that it doesn’t play nice with editing and a few others. There have been two upgrades recently though, so maybe it’s resolved. Keep us posted. The place still looks wonderful!
Thanks, Jeanne.
Karen,
Thanks for the info. CommentLuv played well with the other plugins before, but not after changing themes and upgrading WordPress. However, I tried deactivating it to see if it made any difference … and it didn’t.
It’s is a very nice theme, I’m not big on yellow background, but it still goes very nicely with your theme. I really like the drop down menu too, very cool. Just keep at it, the more time you put into blogs, the more they will eventually benefit you. They are a ton of fun too, later.
Erik,
Thanks for the encouragement.
From what I’ve observed first hand, Lillie has devoted “tons” of time to making this Pro Business Revolution Theme JUST PERFECT.
Jack/Mr Lillie
Jack,
It’s not quite perfect yet … but it’s getting there.
Jack,
I’ve no doubt of that — and, as always, she’s doing a wonderful job!
Jeanne
Lillie,
Hurray! You’ve got the editing function working! I second my previous comment — You’re doing a wonderful job!
Jeanne
Jeanne,
I’m trying a new threaded comments plugin. This one gave me an option to “reply” so we’ll see if it works!
Jeanne,
Yes, I’m glad the editing function works. That’s one of the most important to me.
Unfortunately, the threaded comments function didn’t work. With the original plugin, I never got an option to reply. This one gives me the option to reply, but when I do, it doesn’t nest the comments. I’m off to deactivate it and see what else I can come up with. Back to the drawing board.
Hope you figure it out, Lillie!
Jeanne,
I think my next step will be to go to the Revolution theme forums and ask if threaded comments plugins are incompatible with the theme. I hope not … but that could be the problem.
That sounds like a very good idea, Lillie! Hope you’ll find the answer there.
Oh, this looks nice. I just bought the Revolution theme and started to set it up. I got nervous when I lost something, so I backed up and I’ll try it again later this week. I can’t wait to use it…yours looks so nice.
Hopefully I’ll regain my “change” confidence and try sooner than later!
Jeanne,
I didn’t find anything, and I haven’t had a reply to my question on the forum. Hopefully someone will answer soon.
Deb,
I think you’ll love Revolution. I’ve used it for several other sites for clients, and everyone has been very pleased. This is the first time I’ve used Pro Business, but I think all of the Revolution themes are wonderful.
Don’t give up, Lillie. I’m sure that when the time is right you’ll find someone to advise you on this technical issue.
As a matter of fact, let me recommend K-IntheHouse at ShanKri-la. K knows a lot about computer technology, and he’s a very helpful, friendly, approachable blogger. His blog’s tagline is “where technology meets daily life,” and it covers all sorts of technology-related issues, software, etc. He just might have the answer to your question.
Jeanne,
I didn’t upload one of the files to the right directory.
I got threaded comments working with help from the Revolution forum! The problem was, of course, my own stupidity.
Don’t feel so bad. Many of us non-techie types are all thumbs when it comes to dealing with such issues, and we’re bound to make one mistake or other while attempting to implement the technical processes that simply aren’t second nature to us.
Glad you’ve got the issue resolved, though. It’s always great to be able to reply to individual comments and have related comments nested for easy access to individual threads.
Going to the Revolution forum was really a good idea. In such specialized forums it’s usually just a matter of time before someone responds to your query for help.
P.S. Decided to edit this comment so I could mention that I’m getting a message telling me that comments won’t nest below this level–which I find interesting, since there are only four comments in this thread.
Jeanne,
I’ve tried to change the nesting levels from the default 3 to 6 … but every time I try I get an error message that my “attempt to edit settings failed.” But it seems to be giving the message that comments won’t nest below this level, then nesting anyway. This stuff may drive me crazy!
I suppose things could be worse! At least it’s nesting the comments anyway — even if it is indicating that it won’t.
Look at the bright side: Everyone will get a pleasant surprise when they learn that their comments are nesting, after all!
Jeanne,
This stuff is getting frustrating!
We have to be brave to change the layout. Is something that will never know how visitors will react. Congratulations!
Michael,
Thank you. I’m glad that the new theme is getting a wonderful response from my readers.
Good luck in your move, you say you some techical problems, looking at your site, all I can say is WOW! It’s fantastic and a credit to you.
Like all modern businesses, you have to know what you’re doing with technology to succeed.
Best regards
Graham
Graham,
Yes, we can no longer be just writers or just anything else—we have to techies as well. Thanks for your lovely compliment. I’m working on fixing the remaining glitches, but I’m happy with the overall theme.
Lillie,
Not only won’t my comment nest after your final comment in our last thread, above, but it won’t register at all. I’ve tried twice to reply to your last comment (once the other day and once just now), and each time, when I clicked the “Reply here” link (which has now replaced the “Reply to this comment” link), my comment has disappeared into cyberspace!
I’d been trying to leave the following comment in reply to yours:
_______________
I suppose things could be worse! At least it’s nesting the comments anyway — even if it is indicating that it won’t.
Look at the bright side: Everyone will get a pleasant surprise when they learn that their comments are nesting, after all!

I am, however, beginning to feel that that comment was a bit premature! :-/
Hope you can figure out the problem!
Jeanne
Jeanne,
The comment did appear above …
I used to think the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. But with technology, that’s not insanity … that’s normality.
Yep, realized only later that the comment had appeared!
Better late than never, Jeanne!
Well, Lillie, my comment appeared, after all — as soon as I’d finished posting the follow-up comment above. Can’t imagine why! Also tried to edit the above comment to reflect that and received the message that I didn’t have permission to edit the comment. Oh, well! Guess that’s technology for you!
Jeanne,
I see now my gravatars have disappeared. I’m glad my design turned out well—just wish the plugins and features would work half as well.
We can only hope things will straighten themselves out soon!
Jeanne,
I’d like to think things will straighten out … but I suspect some of it is going to take work. In fact, I’ve been working for several hours on fixing the 300+ broken links Broken Link Checker found. Many of them were blogs listed on the outstanding personal development blogger list and on my various comment thank-you posts. However, many were images—for some reason, the image links broke when I imported the posts. So I’m having to upload the images again. On some of the older posts, I’m just deleting the broken link/missing image. But on most posts, I’m putting the image back.
Sounds like a big job, Lillie! Hope all goes well!
Jeanne,
I’ve got about half of the broken links fixed. I just have to keep plugging away at it.
Stick with it, Lillie! It’s a lot of work, but it will be worth it!
Jeanne,
My goal is to have the blog the way I want it by the time my blog book tour starts on October 27th.
Hope that works out for you, Lillie! I know your blog book tour will be an exciting — and busy — time!
Thanks, Jeanne. I’m making progress, but not as fast as I would like.
Love the new look, Lillie, especially the header.
Sharon,
Thank you. The same artist who created the header designed the cover of Dream or Destiny. She’s very talented.
The colors mesh so well together, I’m glad everything is going well for you Lillie!
Thanks, Stu. I love these colors and have used similar colors in the past. But the artist captured just what I wanted in the header, and I coordinated the background and link colors to that.

I like the colors too
Thanks, Jason. It’s been 15 months since I’ve moved here, and I still love it!
