New Novel Released: Dream or Destiny

September 26, 2008 by Lillie

Finally, my new novel, Dream or Destiny, has been released as an e-book. When you order an e-book from GASLight Publishing, LLC, you receive a zip file that contains four e-book formats: PDF (which you can read in Adobe Acrobat), HTML (which you can read in your Web browser, whether or not you are connected to the Internet), Word .doc (which you can read in your word processor) and text (which you can read on your computer or in many e-book reading devices).

The print version will be available October 18th.

You can read an excerpt in a free PDF download.

I’m planning a blog book tour when the paperback edition is released. If you would like to host me on one of my tour stops, please contact me by e-mail or leave a comment below.

Here’s the back cover blurb:

Marilee Anderson dreams about a murder and wakes to find it really happened. She and David Nichols, the victim’s brother, become the prime suspects. Though they have their secrets and aren’t sure they can trust each other, Marilee and David team up to find the killer.

Does Tess, “the crazy lady,” know anything about the murder or is she just delusional? Does the cheating couple on the victim’s floor have any information about the night of the crime? Why has the abusive father of the victim and her brother suddenly reappeared? What about Barbara’s ex-husband? Will Marilee and David find the killer? Or will they end up in jail—or dead?

“Lillie Ammann’s unique talent brings her characters to life in this tension filled suspense. From the first paragraph she’ll have your heart racing as Marilee’s nightmare takes over her life and changes it forever.” ~ Diana Lesire Brandmeyer, author of A Time to Dance

“Lillie Ammann has written more than a book about two people trying to solve a crime. She delves into the effects of grief and guilt, attraction and suspicion, compassion and evil. “ ~ Helen Ginger, Freelance editor, book consultant, writer, and speaker

    Kevin,
I’d never put myself in the same class as Agatha Christie. :-) But I hope readers enjoy my story.

    kouji,
Thanks! Writing a novel is time-consuming and a lot of work. But I admire poets—especially those of you who can deliver a message in the three lines of a haiku poem!

  8. Ken says:

I just read the free excerpt on pdf. It was really good. I’m tempted to buy the e book, but I’d really rather wait to read it on paperback. Congratulations to you!

    Ken,
I’m glad you enjoyed the excerpt. I’ll announce when the print book is available.

  10. Cath Lawson says:

Hi Lillie – I was beginning to thing you’d fallen asleep on the job – you’ve not posted for ages.

Congratulations. I’ll be buying a paperback copy, as I’ve not got used to reading fiction in an ebook.

If you’re stopping off in Scotland – you might want to come down to me in Cumbria too. I’m about 2 hours south of Edinburgh. How long are you doing the blog tour for and what places are you planning to go?

  11. Congratulations Lillie!

  12. Lillie says:

    Cath,

I’ve been under the weather this past week at the same time I’ve been trying to work on my Web site and prepare for the book launch. In fact, I’ve been doing a lot of sleeping. :-)

I’m planning the blog tour for about 3 to 4 weeks, visiting about 3 to 4 blogs a week. I’d like a variety of different blogs—and I’d love to visit you! I’ll be glad to do a guest post or answer interview questions, and we can gear the topic toward your blog audience. The heroine in my novel, for example, is a business consultant. So maybe I could give some business advice from Marilee. :-) But I’m open to whatever you would like.

  13. Helen Ginger says:

Congratulations Lillie. I’m so glad to hear the book is coming out! Yea.

Great! I can’t wait to buy this at my local bookstore. I’d buy it online but I hate waiting for my packages to ship and arrive! :)

Lillie! You are such a talented writer! I started reading the sneak peak and I couldn’t scroll down fast enough! I wish I didn’t have to wait another month till it comes out on paperback. I’m so excited to read the rest!

  17. Jamie says:

I like the short description you put up for us here. I always had something for those kind of novels. I still remember how I use to read Sidney Sheldon until the morning :)

  18. Lillie says:

I’m glad you like the sneak peak! You can’t say anything a writer loves to hear more than that you can’t wait to keep reading. :-)

  19. Lillie says:

    Jamie,
I hope I can keep you all night reading as well as Sidney Sheldon does. :-)

  20. Lillie says:

    Susan,
Since the book is from a small, independent publisher and not one of the six huge conglomerates that own all the big publishing companies, it will be hard to find in a bookstore. Most bookstores carry primarily books from the big six companies. You can order it from any bookstore that doesn’t have it in stock—but then you’d be back to waiting for the order just like with an online order. :-)

  21. Congratulations, Lillie!
I’m surprised that GASLight are not also releasing the ebook in .epub format, which is rapidly establishing itself as a standard format for ebooks and far more compatible with a number of reader devices.

  22. Lillie says:

    Neil,
Good suggestion. I’ll pass it on. GASLight hasn’t been very aggressive in e-book sales, but as you know if you’ve looked around my blog a little, I’m a big fan. Everything I read is either on the Kindle or the eBookwise. I haven’t had occasion to try epub myself, but I’ve heard a lot about it so maybe it’s time to give it a try.

  23. Justin from Airsoft Pistols says:

Wow, so you are a big time author. That sounds like a really good book, and you are doing a good job of using your blog to promote it. I read a lot, and once it comes out in paperback, I will be sure to get it. Congratulations on making a sale through your blog!

  24. I love crime books… this could be very interesting book.I will surely read it.

  25. jennifer says:

Lillie, this is sooooooooooo cool! I am totally going to be like, “Eh, whatever. I knew her back when.” Heee!

So is the print version the same as the paperback? And that is coming out in Oct? Because I am not only going to buy it, but I’m going to make my friends buy one, too. I’m like that. =)

  26. Lillie says:

    Justin,
Thanks. I hope you enjoy the book. Just to clarify – I didn’t make the sale to the publisher through the blog. I already knew the publisher long before I started the blog. However, I do hope to use the blog to promote the book.

  27. Lillie says:

    offshore hosting blogger,
I hope you enjoy the book!

  28. Lillie says:

    Jennifer,
Yes, the print version will be in paperback, and it’s due out mid-October. I’ll send autographed bookplates for anyone who wants the famous author’s autograph. :-)

  29. wilson says:

OMG, Lillie. It’s totally a surprise to me when I saw your novel.

You was a talented crime writer while I’m a big fan of crime novels. So, your book will be officially in my crime novel list now…

By the way, congratulation for the new novel released and the brand new makeover of the blog as well :)

    Wilson.

  30. Lillie says:

Thank you, Wilson. I’m delighted to hear you want to read my book. If you read e-books, you can order it now. If you want a paperback, you’ll have to wait about three weeks.

  31. Karen Swim says:

Lillie!!!! Congratulations!!! I am so very excited for you!! I would love to be a stop on your blog tour. What a wonderful accomplishment and this happens to be one of my favorite genres. The back cover has me hooked and I can’t wait to read it. Congratulations, yay!!!

  32. Lillie says:

    Karen,
I would love to visit your blog on my tour. I will contact you via e-mail soon. Thanks for being excited for me.

  33. G1 says:

This seems like it will be a great book. It is a unique concept I haven’t heard of any books with the dream actually coming true. congratulations

  34. Lillie says:

    G1,
I’ve never read a book with that premise, either. I hope readers like it.

  35. Bonnie from Data Entry Services says:

Oh, looks like a good read. I will pick it up and congratulations. You make me proud, you’re a talented lady.

  36. Lillie says:

    Bonnie,
Thank you for the lovely compliment. I hope you enjoy the book.

  37. I hope one day to have a book published myself. It would be extremly fun to have a paper based real book, but I would also settle for a 50 page ebook.

One of the things you are suppoed to do before you die…

    Congratulations!

  38. Lillie says:

    Victor,
Good luck in your quest for publication. Are you working on something now?

  39. Billy Swordman says:

Maybe I’m the latest man who congratulate you for the new novel release. But I think better later than never…Congratulations Lillie! I will looking forward to read it.

  40. Lillie says:

    Billy,
Thank you! It’s nice to continue to get congratulations rather than having them all at once. So you’re never too late. :-)

  41. iPhone Complaints says:

looks like it’s going to be a great book. I wonder if this will be available in iTunes?

  42. Lillie says:

    iPhone,
I don’t know anything about making books available on iTunes. Can you direct me to information on how to do that, and I’ll pass it on to the publisher. I’d love the book to be as widely available as possible.

  43. Jason says:

Congrats on the e-Book! Any tips for getting a e-Book published with GASLight Publishing? I would appreciate any advice you could give.

    Thanks!

  44. Lillie says:

Thanks for the congrats, Jason. GASLight is a small publisher and publish only a handful of titles, mostly fiction. You can go to their Web site and visit the About page. There is a e-mail address there for queries.

  45. Wendy Myers says:

Congratulations on your new book. I’m looking forward to reading it

    Wendy

  46. Lillie says:

Thank you, Wendy. I hope you enjoy my story.

  47. Congrats, Lillie!

Happy to be hosting one of the stops on your blog book tour!

    Wishing you success!
    Jeanne

    P.S. Love the cover design!
