Obviously you did not read the first post in this series. Your brother must have done a direct trade with someone, an exchange of services. That is not at all what I&#039;m talking about here—I am talking about the system described in the first post in the series where a barter exchange acts as a third-party bank and record keeper. Each member of the exchange charges exactly the same for their services in trade dollars as they would in cash. One trade dollar equals one cash dollar. The trade dollars are put into the seller&#039;s account to use for future purchases. I agree—and even wrote in the previous post—that a direct exchange of services often is not equal.</description>
