RSS Day

RSS Awareness Day

May 1st is RSS Awareness Day to educate people and encourage them to use RSS. If you don’t know anything about RSS, head over to the site and learn how it works. Then give it a try. :-)

You can start by subscribing to my blog.

I subscribe to way more than 100 blogs. I read the headlines and first paragraphs of new posts then decide whether I want to read more or not. Without RSS, I probably wouldn’t keep up with a handful of blogs.

Is this a real event? This has to be a joke

  2. Lillie says:

No joke, Cohnsey, except the comment to try it out by subscribing to my blog.

Check the link to the site and look around the blogosphere – a lot of bloggers are discussing this. Believe it or not, only 6% of Internet users use RSS so it’s to the advantage of all bloggers that people be informed and encouraged to subscribe.

This is definitely an event! Happy RSS Day!

  4. Lillie, I have to confess i would never keep up with the blogs I love reading without rss feeds. I’ve subscribed to 180 up to now and my rss reader sometimes makes my life a lot easier. Unfortunately, even with it I sometimes have no time for more than quick reads. But I am working on it :)

    Alina,
I know what you mean. I have the same problem.

    Hello Lillie,

    Riza,
Hope you get lots of subscribers!

    Angela,
It’s a good explanation, and there are a lot of people who need it.

Wow RSS day! Never would have known if it weren’t for this blog :)

Glad to spread the word about RSS day and especially about RSS.

RSS rocks my face off. I’m always enthusiastic to evangelize RSS whenever I get the chance.

  14. annakat says:

I haven’t subscribed to RSS I have the sites, including this one that I like on a spreadsheet that I use. So far it works for me pretty good. I’m new to all this stuff so I’m taking it slow.

  15. Lillie says:

    annakat,
If your system works for you, that’s all that matters. I like RSS because I like knowing when one of my favorite blogs has updated. I don’t waste time going there to look when there’s nothing new, and I don’t miss articles when they are posted. If you are interested in seeing if RSS works well for you, you might subscribe to one blog and try it. If you like your spreadsheet better, then stick with it. If you find RSS convenient, then you can subscribe to other blogs you like.

  16. Lillie says:

Thanks! Perhaps a few more Internet users know about RSS now.

  17. Lillie says:

    LOL! Hope it’s an e-card!

  18. Lillie says:

Glad you are spreading the word about RSS. We need to get more than 6% of Internet users knowing about and using RSS.
