Christ the Lord Is Risen Today! Alleluia!

March 23, 2008 by Lillie

Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia!
our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
who did once upon the cross, Alleluia!
suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia!

Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia!
unto Christ, our heavenly King, Alleluia!
who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia!
sinners to redeem and save. Alleluia!

But the pains which he endured, Alleluia!
our salvation have procured, Alleluia!
now above the sky he’s King, Alleluia!
where the angels ever sing. Alleluia!

~Compleat Psalmodist, 1749

Hear the music to the hymn.

Nice post about Easter- sometimes it just feels like Easter is the forgotten Holiday, and it’s just nice to see it honoured on the blog of a writer, who’s just as cool as the next person and not just on “Christian” only sites. Do visit my site if you get a chance!

Oh, this is one of my favorite hymns! And I agree with you – Easter is the most important day for Christians. It is the day that changed the world.

    Love you, Lillie!
