National Grammar Day
March 4, 2008 by Lillie
I’m out in the country – far from civilization – but I left this post to let you know today is National Grammar Day.
The Society for the Promotion of Good Grammar says:
Speak well! Write well! And on March 4, march forth and spread the word. If you see a sign with a catastrophic apostrophe, send a kind note to the storekeeper. If your local newscaster says “Between you and I,” set him straight with a friendly e-mail.

National Grammar Day has come and gone and there I was, so busy that I missed it. Maybe next year…
I just hate grammar.. I really do. so that is my most irritable day of the year.
That’s too bad. It’s hard to communicate well if you don’t use correct grammar. I prefer informal writing – my least favorite editing jobs are usually doctoral dissertations – but even in e-mails and conversations, people understand us better if we don’t mangle grammar.
I’m wonderin’ how do people celebrate this thing? .. Are there any programs for this? Campaign ads?
This is my weak point.. and though I hate it, I know I have to learn it. Its just astounding to read an article that has flawless, perfect grammar.
Gray,
Probably not many people pay attention to National Grammar Day, but you will find helpful tips and useful links on the Web site. There is a list of participating blogs that give grammar advice. You might want to visit those blogs and see which ones you’d like to read regularly.
Another excellent resource that I refer to when I have grammar questions is The Guide to Grammar and Writing originally created by Dr. Charles Darling of Capital Community College and maintained since his death by a foundation. It is easy to navigate and easy to understand.
I think this is what i really need a perfect grammar..I want to read more in this article..Thank you for posting. I’ll coming back.

Sarah,
It’s not likely that any of us will ever achieve perfect grammar. But National Grammar Day is a time to focus on improving.
I wasn’t around to do anything but thought it was worth posting ahead to let folks know about it. I missed Read an E-Book Week because I expected to be back before the end of the week to write a post but was gone longer than expected.
