Off to the Country
March 2, 2008 by Lillie
I am taking a few days off to visit my sister on the farm and will not have access to a computer or the Internet. I’m looking forward to spending time with my sister, seeing the farm and the cattle, and being away from work and the computer for a little while.

Hi Lillie! Enjoy your vacation from work and from the computer! I have to admit I got into the bad habit of making sure there is an internet connection wherever I go for a shorter or longer break. I guess I should take your example on my next trip.
You’ll be missed, but we all deserve a vacation every now and then. Have fun and I’ll pray that your travel is a safe one.
Wishing you having great time with your sister.
God bless you and your sister!
Enjoy the break I found your site while taking a break from the 5th round of edits on my novel latest novel.
Hi Lillie
I recently had a few weeks with no computer access. I found it very liberating and rejuvenating. We don’t realize how dependent we become on technology.
Enjoy your break!
take also yourtime to play with cows!
I hope you enjoy your time out and wish you all the best for a good
holiday
Getting away from the computer once in a while is very important i think. You need to get out, breathe fresh air and just lose the tether to the internet occasionally. ENJOY IT!!!!
Have a great vacation Lillie!
I’m a firm believer that rest refreshes the mind. You’ll find yourself to be more efficient when you come back.
I hope your having a good time on the farm. I have relatives that live in WI in the country, its pretty crazy at times.
Enjoy your time away. I have terrible allergies (to animal fur, hay, just about everything), so I envy folks who can go to farms without having to take a mega-dose of benadryl before they go.
I’m sure you’ll enjoy the lack of technology!
I wish I also had a farm like that (: w/o internet and telephone …
I think after working for long in the country every person gets tired and needs a change. Such kinds of visits to farm are very benefital as it increases productivity of a person.
Thanks, Yvonne. I think of the days when it took weeks or months for a letter to reach its destination, and we’re appalled if we can’t reach someone instantly via phone or e-mail.
I get that from dust if I clean out a closet or something. Corn starch helps mine.
Hello Lillie,
Welcome back from your well deserved getaway. Maintaining a blog worth writing and reading is a challenging, time consuming task. You inspire me because you’re one of the bloggers who blog because it’s something that you love doing. I love reading what you write
Taking frequent breaks will help to ensure that blogging just for the love of it will continue to inspire you to keep blessing your readers for many years to come.
Thank you for being an invaluable source of encouragement.

I enjoyed it, Alina. If I’d had Internet access, I would have felt guilty if I didn’t respond to clients with rush jobs and last minute requests. But since I couldn’t get the messages … it didn’t bother me! And I had warned my clients in advance so they didn’t expect me to be available instantly as I usually am.
Thank you, Misti. I enjoyed visiting my sister.
Thank you, David. We had a lovely visit.
Good luck with your novel, Brad. Writing is rewriting!
I enjoy watching the cows through the window of the house or car. We had five new baby calves that were delightful to see.
Thank you. I had a wonderful time.
“The tether to the internet” … a great descripton. And great advice to lose it occasionally.
I stayed busy – my sister is renovating her house, and I helped her organize her files and set up her office as well as figuring out furniture placement, etc. But it was something different from what I normally do so it made a nice break. And I got to spend a lot of time with my sister, which we don’t get to do often.
Bobby,
We have a tenant farmer who cares for our cattle and farms the land.
It’s more fun to visit the farm than to run the farm.
Amy,
I generally don’t get outside – I’m not very stable on my feet so don’t get around much. The closest I come to the cattle or fields is through the window of the house or an air-conditioned car. So I don’t have any more nasal allergies than I do in my own office.
However, my sister is renovating her house, and I guess something the construction crew used irritated my skin. I have itchy red bumps around my neck, my waistline, my ankles and lower legs, and hands and forearms – anywhere that was exposed or where my clothing came together. It’s better since I got home, but I’m still itching.
My sister has a phone, and I had my cell phone … but I didn’t give the number to my clients!
You’re right, Chris. We are more productive after a break.
Thanks, Amy! I’ll try the cornstarch. It could well be the dust – there was dust stirred up by the construction workers, and we dusted the books and knick-knacks and put them back on the shelves … and Nancy has a lot of both books and knick knacks.
Thank you for the kind words, Manchild. Your blog is an inspiration as well.
