Looking for Advance Readers/Reviewers for Dream or Destiny

September 7, 2007 by Lillie

My romantic suspense novel, Dream or Destiny, is almost ready to send to the book designer. My publisher/editor, Grace Anne Schaefer at GASLight Publishing, is doing a final read-through before the manuscript is turned into a book.

We’d love to have some reader input. If you are interested in reading and commenting on the manuscript, please let me know.

This is what we’re looking for:

  • Feedback on any errors, inconsistencies, or loose ends. For example, I wrote the story several years ago before caller ID was ubiquitous. When I updated the story, I had to come up with a reason the hero didn’t get the caller ID on a threatening phone call.
  • If you like the book, I’d appreciate comments that could be quoted on the back cover or used as a review at Amazon.com and in marketing materials.
  • If you don’t like the book, give me your honest opinion – preferably in a private e-mail.

If you’d like to read my story, post a comment or e-mail me. Let me know if standard manuscript format (Word document, double-spaced, 12 pt font, 1″ margins) is OK or if you would prefer that I create an electronic advance reading copy (PDF file, single-spaced, two-page layout).

Thanks to anyone willing to help out.

Lillie, I’d love to read it! Feel free to send it to my email as a Word doc if you still need some reviewers!

  2. Lillie says:

    Michi,
It’s on its way. Thanks so much!

  3. Lillie,

I’d be happy to read it and give you a review as well. I’ll e-mail you my review, post the review on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and also on my blog. Of course, if you’d like to use my review anywhere else you’ll be more than welcome to. I’d prefer the PDF if you don’t care.

  4. Lillie says:

Wonderful, Misti! I’ll get it off to you right away. Thanks!

  5. Helen Ginger says:

    Hi Lillie.

I’d be happy to read it. I’d prefer a Word document, that way I can make any comments right on the copy. If you still need feedback and comments, let me know.

  6. Mike Olbinski says:

Lillie I’d love to take a read on it…I’m in the middle of On the Road, but would love to switch to something like this :)

    Word document is fine.

  7. Lillie says:

    Helen and Mike,

Thank you so much. I’d really appreciate input from both of you. The Word document is on its way.

  8. Lillie,

I’d love to help out with this, as well, though time is so limited! I’m currently in the middle of reviewing a book-length manuscript for Stephen Hopson, who pens the Adversity University blog–and also working on a number of other writing projects at the same time.

But, I can do my best to work on it whenever I’m able to find the time, if you’re not in a terrible hurry to have it completed. A Word document would work best for me.

    Thanks!
    Jeanne

  9. Lillie says:

    Jeanne,
I’d love your input. I’ll send it for you to read whenever you have time.

Ah man, I’d love to! But, I’m currently reviewing a mental health-related memoir over at Mental Health Notes for Elyn R. Saks’ (the author) people. And to be honest, it’s the first time I’ve “had time” to get away from the computer and actually read since last year (how embarrassing!).

Wow, it’s almost ready for the book designer? How exciting! Do you know what kind of design you’re looking at yet?

  11. Lillie says:

    Alicia,
I understand about not having time to read. As much as I love to read for fun, most of my reading is manuscripts I’m editing. Sounds like an interesting book you’re reading now.

The publisher has an idea for the cover that I like. I’m eager to see what the designer comes back with. Of course, I’ll post the cover as soon as it’s available.

  12. alicia says:

Woohoo! My comment showed up after all :)

  13. Lillie says:

    Alicia,
Sorry you had a problem leaving a comment. Hope the second time everything went smoothly.

Has anyone else had a problem with comments? If so, please e-mail me using the link at the top of the sidebar.

    Lillie,

I would love to read your book! I’m having a lull in business so I can devote a lot of time to it right now. This will get my mind on other things:)

  15. Lillie says:

    Tammi,
Thank you! I’ll get the manuscript out to you.

  16. Laura says:

I see that you’ve got plenty of folks helping you. If you need another, let me know.

  17. Lillie says:

    Laura,

I’m overwhelmed at the response. I’d be delighted to get your input as well if you’d like to read the book. Just let me know whether you’d like Word or PDF.

  18. Laura says:

Hmmm! Well, if you give me a word file I can turn on track changes and make suggestions directly in the text …

  19. Laura says:

    Either format is fine.

  20. Lillie says:

    Laura,
The Word file is on its way. Thanks!

  21. I’d be happy to help, if I can, but it looks like you’ve got a full crew here… maybe the next novel.

All the best with it Lillie… very exciting!

  22. Lillie says:

Thanks, Yvonne. I’m amazed at how many wonderful writers have responded.

  23. Mihaela Lica says:

… for this I do have time, if you would like to count me in… :) Pretty please.

  24. Lillie says:

    Mig,
The manuscript is on its way. Thanks.

    Hi Lillie,

If you still need readers to check out the book, then count me in. I love getting comfortable with a good book at night before bed time.

My Email is in the comment field…

    Glenn

  27. Lillie says:

Thanks, Lazy Boy. I have enough readers and their input is being incorporated into the manuscript now. But I really appreciate your offer.
