You can see my upgrade didn’t go well …
July 10, 2007 by Lillie
If you’ve been here in the last couple of days, you couldn’t read my blog … because it wasn’t here! Something went wrong during the upgrade, so I tried to restore the backup. That didn’t go well, and for a couple of days, my blog was gone. My Web host got my backup restored and upgraded WordPress for me … and it looks just like it did when I upgraded. Awful! Everything that should go on the sidebar is still in WordPress. It’s just not showing up where it’s supposed to be.
Comments left over the weekend were lost, so if you left a comment and it’s not here, I apologize. Please comment again AFTER I’ve got this thing back to normal. I don’t want to lose your comment again.
Thanks for your patience, and wish me luck in getting back to normal!

Do you have any options to figure out how to fix your website?
Hang in there, Lillie! You’ll get it all sorted out! I don’t mind commenting now: If you lose the comment, I’ll just leave another one later!
Jeanne
Thanks, Jeanne. I’m just glad the upgrades I did on blogs for my church and a few clients went well. If something had to go wrong, I’m glad it was on my blog.
Any advice for a newbie? http://www.workoutreview.blogspot.com Thanks!
J,
The main advice is make sure you have a backup whenever you try something new.
If I can’t correct the problem, I can always go back to the old version.
Best of luck on getting it corrected, Lillie. I’m sure you’ll get it straightened out.
Thanks, Michi. My Web host says the page looks fine on his browser … so I sent him screen shots of what I’m seeing.
Hi Lillie — I am sorry to hear about your troubles with the WP upgrade. I assume that you are now running WP 2.2.1
I suggest you set up your widgets to add your categories, links, ads, etc. to the sidebar. That way you can be assured that your information is in place. You can even widgetize your MyBlogLog widget and anything else you want to appear.
Hi Matt,
Yes, I’m running 2.2.1. I haven’t added any widgets yet because I’m not sure if I will have to do the upgrade again.
I’d be interested to hear what the blog looks like to you. My Web host says it looks fine to him – I sent him a screen shot of what it looks like to me and expect a response this morning. Yvonne from Grow Your Writing Business was kind enough to send me a screenshot of what it looks like to her, and it’s not messed up like it is on my screen and our two other computers.
What I couldn’t see on Yvonne’s screen shot, though, was my sidebar. All the information is intact in the dashboard, but the Blogroll doesn’t show up. I haven’t widgetized the sidebar, but the other four blogs I upgraded to 2.2.1 before I did this one all showed the sidebar information from the links, categories, etc. set up in the old version. All I had to them was add back things I’d added to the sidebar code.
Hi ever’body. I have to say, this problem with Lillie’s blog is of GREAT consternation to her. But as I know her well, she’ll get it sorted out…just keep “pluggin’”, hun.
Wow, how annoying for you. Blogs are much more work than most people think.

Alice,
Thanks for the info. I haven’t tried to make money with my blog, and I can’t travel for health reasons. But perhaps some of my readers may be interested in this conference.
Michael,
I have a couple of ideas, but I’m getting some advice before I try to do something and mess it up even more.
Mr. Lillie
I’m getting there …
