Flag Day

June 14, 2007 by Lillie

June 14th is Flag Day in the US.

I realize many of my readers are from other parts of the world. I hope you take as much pride in your home country and its flag as I take in my home country and its flag.

Its one of the holidays always forget about until it is happening.

My favorite story about the flag was when in the Army, we had as a creative attitude adjustment for several of us to be present in full uniform at the rising and lowering of the flag for 15 days. It did work we all adjusted our attitudes.

I’m editing a book right now by a chaplain’s wife, and she mentions how moving it is to see the flag raised and lowered. I imagine standing at attention in full uniform twice a day for 15 days would make an impression.
