Sometimes it is easy for us to forget those brave men and women are over, fighting for us, at times seeing things no one should, and being away from their families for extended periods of time, often during the holidays. This can get pretty lonely for them. I have "adopted a soldier" for 3 years now, and it's one of the things that brings me the most joy. I love writing, letting my soldier know that they are still very much plugged into the things that happen in their absence, I love being a part of the things that encourage them, and I love getting responses back.
