The Last Boat Out: Memoirs of a Triumphant Vietnamese-American Family by the Truongs
June 11, 2006 by Lillie
GASLight Publishing has released The Last Boat Out: Memoirs of a Triumphant Vietnamese-American Family. On April 29, 1975 - one day before the fall of Saigon, Truong-Nhu Dinh and his wife Nga fled Vietnam. They left everything behind but their five children and their cherished values and traditions. As the boat left the port, they said goodbye to Vietnam and hello to a new life … wherever that might be. On April 29, 2006, the Truong-Nhus celebrated their triumphs and thirty-one years in America with the publication of their memoirs. Working with the authors to edit their manuscript, which had been written in Vietnamese and translated by the authors’ son and daughter-in-law, was a great privilege. The early reviews are excellent. (2/1/08: The book is now out of print.)
